Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques launches Janadriyah festival in the presence of Bahrain’s monarch

Prince Miteb patronizes festival ceremonial party on behalf of King Abdullah

On behalf of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, Prince Miteb bin Abdullah bin Abdulaziz, Minister of State, Cabinet Member, Commander of the National Guard, and President of the Supreme Organizing Committee of the National Festival for Heritage and Culture, patronized the ceremonial party held at Janadriyah closed gallery.

Addressing the gathering, Abdulmohsen bin Abdulaziz Al-Tuwaijri, Deputy Assistant of the Commander of the National Guard and Deputy Head of the festival's organizing committee said Janadriyah festival managed to appear every year in a new show.

Then Prince Miteb bin Abdullah opened the pavilion of Japan in its capacity as the State Guest of Honor of the festival. He also cut the ribbon of King Abdulaziz Center for Archive and Information and toured Makkah building, Eastern Region Home, King Khalid exhibition and pension authority pavilion.

Taking the podium, Toko Naga Hisashi, Special envoy of the Japanese Prime Minister, expressed happiness to take part in the opening of the festival as an official envoy of Japan upon a generous invitation of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz Al Saud.

He called on the public to visit Japan's pavilion to see the spirit of the Japanese people.

He gave an account on the post-tsunami situation in Japan.

For his part, Tareq Mitri, Minister of Information of the Lebanese Caretaker government, said that Janadriyah festival has turned to be a bright vital landmark in the cultural life of the Kingdom, the Arab world and the entire world.

He asserted that acculturation is the sole way to narrow the gap among different cultures and that dialogue is the mechanism to lead that way.

Then, the guests listened to a poem by Hamad Al-Asoos and watched an operetta titled 'A Buoyed Nation of Joy'.

The event was attended by a number of princes, ministers, official guests, senior officials and a number of people.

King Abdullah had patronized the opening ceremony of the 26th Janadriyah National Festival for Heritage and Culture which is annually organized by the National Guard.

Upon his arrival at the venue, the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques was received by Prince Salman bin Abdulaziz, Governor of Riyadh Region; Prince Miteb bin Abdullah bin Abdulaziz, Minister of State, Cabinet Member, Commander of the National Guard, and President of the Festival's Supreme Committee; and a number of officials.

Then, a number of princes and officials shook hands with the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques.

The Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques received King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa of Bahrain and the accompanying delegation.

The Saudi and Bahraini royal anthems were played, followed by a recitation of verses of the Holy Quran.

Then, the grand camel race started.

At the end of the first round of the grand camel race, the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz Al Saud handed over the awards to the race winners.

The results of the first round of the grand camel race are as follows:

First place: Haddaj owned by Prince Abdulaziz bin Fahd bin Abdulaziz.

Second place: Khouzam owned by Prince Abdulaziz bin Fahd bin Abdulaziz.

Third place: Mushtaq owned by Prince Abdulaziz bin Fahd bin Abdulaziz.

Fourth place: Muwaffaq owned by Prince Abdulaziz bin Fahd bin Abdulaziz.

Fifth place: Aba Al-Ruhoon owned by Prince Abdulaziz bin Fahd bin Abdulaziz.

Following the award ceremony, the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz Al Saud; King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa of Bahrain; a number of princes and ministers; the guests of the Kingdom; and the audience performed Maghrib Prayer.

Then, the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques and the King of Bahrain graced the dinner banquet held on this occasion.

hen the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques awarded Sheikh Dr. Abdulwahab Abu-Suleiman, Member of the Senior Ulema Commission, King Abdulaziz Legion of Honor (First Class) in his capacity as this year's Saudi Cultural Personality.

Before leaving the scene, the monarch bade farewell to King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa of Bahrain.

The opening ceremony and dinner party were attended by Prince Bandar bin Mohammed bin Abdulrahman; Prince Salman bin Abdulaziz, Governor of Riyadh Region; Prince Khalid Al-Faisal, Governor of Makkah Region; Prince Faisal bin Mohammed bin Saud Al-Kabeer; Prince Mohammed bin Saad bin Abdulaziz, Advisor to the Minister of Interior; Prince Miqren bin Abdulaziz, Chief of General Intelligence; other princes, Dr. Abdullatif bin Rashed Al-Zayani, Secretary General of the Gulf Cooperation Council; ministers, official guests of the festival, senior civil and military officials and a group of citizens.

Meanwhile, King Abdullah received Japanese Parliamentary Vice-Minister for Foreign Affairs Hisashi Tokunaga, who is the Special Envoy of Japanese Prime Minister.

During the meeting, Tokunaga conveyed the greetings of Japanese Emperor Akihito and Prime Minister Naoto Kan to the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques. In turn, the King sent his greetings to the Japanese leadership.

In Riyadh, Crown Prince Sultan bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, Deputy Premier, Minister of Defense and Aviation and Inspector General, received King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa of the Kingdom of Bahrain and his accompanying delegation.

During the audience, they reviewed bilateral relations and discussed ways of enhancing relations in all fields. In addition, they discussed the latest developments at Gulf, Arab and International arenas.
