The Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Abdullah Ibn Abdul Aziz received at his palace the National Guard's guests of Muslim scholars, men of letters, intellectuals and members of the media from the kingdom and abroad currently attending the 22nd national festival of heritage and culture in Janadriya.

At the outset, they all listened to a recitation of verses from the holy Quran and an interpretation of their meanings. They all had the honor to greet the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques.

Addressing the audience, the King wished them a happy stay in their second country, the kingdom of Saudi Arabia. He prayed to Almighty Allah that problems will be solved for Muslims and non-Muslims everywhere.

He said, "The kingdom has exerted and will exert what is demanded of it for any role. The kingdom has been proceeding on the right track that preserves the dignity of man, religion, fraternity and morality. You should pay attention to some writers who put on an Islamic, human or moral cloak, but they are far away from it. They wish that the words of religion, morality, homeland and honor be wiped out from existence. "

The Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques added, ''you are good and faithful to religion, morality and homeland. You defend them bravely in a way that does not accept humiliation. I wish you success in your message and struggle for humanity since humanity is a demand of all the world.

Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Abdullah called upon Arabs and Muslims to strengthen unity and cautioned them against forces that try to create division among them.

"Disunity will not bring anything good. But you know there are forces that create division between brothers," the king said while receiving Saudi and foreign intellectuals, men of letters and journalists who are taking part in the weeklong National Heritage and Culture Festival at Janadriya as guests of the National Guard.

"As to Arabs and Muslims, they should pay attention to their situations and should unite since division does not lead to any good or harmony. There are hidden hands dividing brothers, fathers and sons in this difficult time, but you are the source of every good and good words that seek harmony and healing of wounds. You are all faithful to religion, homeland and morality, and you will never lose."

King Abdullah wished them and everyone all success in their good efforts. "I wish you every success in your mission and efforts for the welfare of humanity," King Abdullah told the gathering, which included Intelligence Chief Prince Muqrin and Prince Miteb Ibn Abdullah, assistant deputy commander of the National Guard and deputy chairman of the festival's organizing committee. They all had lunch with the king.

He urged Muslim and non-Muslim intellectuals to uphold human values. "The whole world is looking for humaneness," the Saudi Press Agency quoted the king as saying. "Anybody who works for his faith, nation and moral values will never be a loser," the king said.

Dr. Mohammad Salmawi, who spoke on behalf of the guests, commended King Abdullah's efforts to reconcile feuding Palestinian factions by inviting their leaders to Makkah. "We look forward to Arabs achieving greater unity during their next summit in the Kingdom," he added.

He commended the king for patronizing Makkah agreement between Palestinian groups and hailed national dialogue in the kingdom.

The audience and banquet were attended by Prince Miqren Ibn Abdul Aziz, Chief of General Intelligence, a number of princes, ministers and officials.

The Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Abdullah Ibn Abdul Aziz received at his office at the royal court at Al Yamamah palace in Riyadh Turki Bin Khalid Al-Sidairi, Chairman of the Board of the Human Rights Commission and members of the board.

Speaking to the Chairman and members of the Board of the Human Rights Commission, the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Abdullah Ibn Abdul Aziz underscored the importance of the commission's job, describing it as tough and critical.

King Abdullah Ibn Abdul Aziz advised them to observe accuracy and thorough investigation while dealing with claims of those who feel aggrieved.

Narrating the story of Makkah historical meeting between Palestinian leaders which succeeded in stemming bloodshed and agreeing on forming a national unity government, the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques said he was watching serious bids made over several days by Egypt and Jordan to bring the Palestinian warring factions together but in vain.

He said he spent a couple of days or so hesitant whether to invite the Palestinian leaders to a meeting in Makkah or not.

Resolved that they are not going to reject my call, I made it public and thanks to Almighty Allah, they came with open hearts and good temper to reach the goals, he said.

In fact, we had only two requests from them: to stop in-fighting and form a national government, the monarch said, adding that they accepted my request.

Following give-and-take tough negotiations, they finally reached an agreement that immediately stopped the bloodshed, the King explained.

The Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques said the meeting's site in the vicinity of the Holy Mosque in Makkah has its positive leverage on negotiators.

Accordingly, they brushed away feelings of malice towards each other, the king said of the Palestinian leaders, wishing them continuous success.

On the other hand the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Abdullah Ibn Abdul Aziz, the Chairman of King Abdul Aziz and his Companions Foundation for the gifted will patronize here in Rabi' I, 1429h, the first Saudi Invention Exhibition titled "Development Of Invention In Service Of Development" to be organized by the foundation with the participation of Saudi Aramco company.

Dr. Abdullah Bin Salih Al-Obaid, the Minister of Education, the Foundation's Deputy Chairman and Chairman of the Executive Council expressed his best thanks to the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques for patronizing the exhibition, noting that the King's approval of patronization is an extension to his directives stressing the foundation's role and message for building and developing invention environment and society in a general concept to serve this dear homeland.

The Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Abdullah Ibn Abdul Aziz, Prime Minister and Chairman of the Supreme Education Council approved a number of decisions taken by the council in its 44th session.

In a statement to the Saudi Press Agency, Dr. Khalid Bin Mohammed Al-Anqari, the Minister of Higher Education said that the decisions included the establishment of Engineering Faculty of King Abdul Aziz University in Tabuk; Engineering Faculty of King Faisal University Branch in Dammam; Pharmacy and Dentistry Faculties and Biology and Chemistry departments at Science Faculty of Joaf University; and department of Financial Sciences at Administrative and Planning Faculty of King Faisal University.

He noted that the King also approved extension of terms of office of a number of deputy directors of universities.

The Minister of Higher Education pointed out that the King's approval of these decisions embodies the care and attention paid by the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Abdullah Ibn Abdul Aziz and Crown Prince Sultan Ibn Abdul Aziz, Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Defence and Aviation and Inspector General to the education march in the kingdom.

Meanwhile Taif University will host the first meeting of the deans of the student affairs at the Saudi universities.

Dean of students Affairs at Taif University Dr. Fahd Al-Juhani pointed out that the meeting comes within the framework of the programs of the ministry of higher education pertaining to extending services to the university students.

On the other hand the second issue of 'Janadriya 22' daily was released by the Media Committee of the National Festival of Heritage and Culture.

The issue contained a set of news about the festival as well as the preparations and intensive efforts being exerted for the success of the festival. It highlighted the start of the cultural activities under the auspices of Prince Mit'eb bin Abdullah Ibn Abdul Aziz, Assistant Vice Commander of the National Guard for Military Affairs, and Deputy Chairman of the High Committee of the Festival.

The issue also included a number of statements and speeches delivered by Princes as well as a number of interviews with the festival's guests.

Also the final ceremony of King Abdullah contest on Quran and Sunnah (Prophet's Deeds And Sayings) memorization was held within the activities of Janadriya National Festival for Heritage and Culture.

A speech ceremony was held to mark the occasion before giving away the prizes to winners.

Prince Naif Ibn Abdul Aziz, the Minister of Interior and General Supervisor of Saudi Commission for Assisting the Lebanese People, received letters of thanks and appreciation from Lebanese organizations, schools and charities, lauding the leadership of Saudi Arabia for its unlimited support for the Lebanese people in many fields.

The letters highlighted the commission's assistance to the Lebanese people especially during this time of hardship and endurance due to the Israeli attacks against the Lebanese people.

On another development Prince Naif Ibn Abdul Aziz, the Interior Minister, has expressed happiness for the return of a new group of Saudis who were detained in Guantanamo.

The seven saudis arrived in the kingdom on Wednesday morning, February 21, 2007.

In a statement to spa, Prince Naif said the kingdom of Saudi Arabia, under the leadership of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Abdullah Ibn Abdul aziz, will continue its efforts to restore all Saudis detained in Guantanamo.

Prince Naif expressed satisfaction over the cooperation shown by the concerned authorities in the us in this respect.

The Security Spokesman for the Interior Ministry said the Saudis who arrived in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia after being released from Guantanamo, include the following: -Majed Abdullah Hussein Al-Harbi

The spokesman noted that their relatives have been informed with their arrival in the kingdom.

He said Prince Naif Ibn Abdul Aziz, the Interior Minister, has issued his directives to provide these former detainees with all possible facilities so as to enable them meet their families.

He pointed out they will be subject to the regulations and systems of the kingdom.

The spokesman said it will be possible for their relatives to contact the telephone number 014034375 to obtain more information in this respect.

Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources Eng. Ali Al-Naimi said Saudi Aramco has successfully discovered a new oil field south east of Al-Ghawar Field in the Eastern region.

In a statement to spa, he noted that productive capacity of the new oil field might exceed 3915 barrel in addition to 11.9 million cubic feet of gas per day.

Saudi Aramco has discovered a new oil field southeast of Ghawar in the Eastern Province, according to Saudi Aramco official website.

On Feb. 11, the Dirwazah-1 well tested oil in the Unayzah reservoir at 15,310 feet. The well flowed 3,915 barrels per day of oil with 11.9 million standard cubic feet of gas per day at 4,466 psi wellhead pressure on a 32/64 inch choke. Under normal production completion, the well is expected to flow at a higher rate. Dirwazah-1 is 70 kilometers southeast of Ghawar Field and 280 km south of Dhahran.

Abddullah S. Al-Saif, senior vice president of Exploration and Producing, expressed his appreciation to the exploration and drilling crews and all the support organizations whose efforts made this significant discovery possible.
