In a statement to the Saudi Press Agency (SPA) following the session, the Minister of Culture and Information Iyad Bin Amin Madani said that the Cabinet welcomed the convention of the 27th session of the forthcoming summit of the supreme council of Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries in Riyadh.

The Cabinet hopes that the summit will reach positive and practical outcomes to develop the march of the joint gulf action, to strengthen unified Arab efforts, to support the region's security and stability and to embody the GCC countries commitment to Islam as a religion, law and system.

On domestic affairs, the Cabinet expressed its appreciation of the great efforts exerted by the security forces in the kingdom which track down the movements of suspected individuals affected by the deviating thought and carry out pre-empted operations in a number of the kingdom's regions. These operations have led to apprehending a number of suspects who committed themselves to harming the kingdom' s security and resources. All people have the responsibility of confronting intellectually, socially, and culturally the sources of the deviating thought which defame Islam and harm the homeland, the Cabinet noted.

The Minister of Culture and Information said the Cabinet then reviewed the local items on its agenda and issued the following decisions:

The Cabinet approved the items reached by the GCC economic and financial ministerial committee held in Abu-Dhabi on 14/5/1427 H. as they appear in the minutes of the 71st meeting, regarding the exemption from custom fees of imported coal and wood.
