A MESSAGE FROM PRESIDENT CHIRAC TO PRINCE SULTAN. THE YEMENI PRESIDENT PRAISES SAUDI-YEMENI RELATIONS AND STRESSES THE IMPORTANCE OF HIS MEETINGS WITH PRINCE SULTAN. THE CROWN PRINCE VISITS AL QASSIM REGION AND PATRONIZES THE FIRST SCIENTIFIC INTERNATIONAL SEMINAR ON CAMELS ORGANIZED BY THE AGRICULTURE AND VETERINARY COLLEGE IN AL-QASSIM UNIVERSITY. Crown Prince Sultan Ibn Abdul Aziz, Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Defense and Aviation and Inspector General held at his palace a meeting with Philippines' President Gloria Macapagal Arroyo. At the outset of the meeting, the Crown Prince welcomed the President, wishing her and the accompanying delegation a good stay in the kingdom. On her part, the Philippines President thanked Crown Prince Sultan Ibn Abdul Aziz for a warm welcome and generous hospitality accorded to her and the accompanying delegation. During the meeting, they discussed the latest developments at the international arena topped by the Palestinian issue and the situation in Iraq. Aspects of cooperation and ways of their enhancement in all fields were also reviewed. On the Saudi side, the meeting was attended by a number of princes, ministers and officials. on the Philippines side, it was attended by secretary of foreign affairs Alberto Romulo; Secretary of Labor and Employment Patricia Santo Thomas; Secretary of trade and Industry Peter Favila; Secretary of Energy Raphael Lotilla and a number of officials. Crown Prince Sultan Ibn Abdul Aziz, Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Defense and Aviation and Inspector General, held a dinner party in honor of the President of the Philippines Gloria Macapagal Arroyo and accompanying delegation. The function was attended by Prince Mit'eb Ibn Abdul Aziz, Minister of Municipal and Rural Affairs, Prince Naif Ibn Abdul Aziz, the Minister of Interior, Prince Salman Ibn Abdul Aziz, Governor of Riyadh Region, Prince Sattam Ibn Abdul Aziz, Deputy Governor of Riyadh Region, other princes, ministers and senior civil and military officials. On the other hand Bahrain's King Hamad Bin Isa Al Khalifa left Riyadh on sunday after participating in the 8th consultative meeting of leaders of Arab Gulf Cooperation Council's countries concluded at Diriyah palace. At King Khalid International Airport, the Bahraini King was seen off by Crown Prince Sultan Ibn Abdul Aziz, Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Defense and Aviation and Inspector General,; Prince Miqren Ibn Abdul Aziz, Chief of General Intelligence; a number of princes; ministers and officials. Crown Prince Sultan Ibn Abdul Aziz, the Deputy Prime Minister, Defense and Aviation Minister and Inspector General, held a dinner party in honor of King Hamad Bin Isa al-Khalifa of Bahrain and the accompanying delegation. The dinner party was attended by Prince Naif Ibn Abdul Aziz, the Interior Minister, and a number of princes and senior officials. Crown Prince Sultan Ibn Abdul Aziz, Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Defense and Aviation and Inspector General, received at his palace in Riyadh U.S. former Defense Secretary William Cohen. The audience was attended by senior protocol officials at the Crown Prince's court and ministry of defense and aviation. Crown Prince Sultan Ibn Abdul Aziz, the Deputy Prime Minister, Defense and Aviation Minister and Inspector General received a message from President Jacques Chirac of France. The message was handed over to the Crown Prince by the French president's diplomatic advisor Jordou Montani during a reception given to him and his companions at the royal court at Al Yamamah palace in Riyadh. At the outset of the meeting, the French President's Advisor conveyed to the Crown Prince the greetings of President Chirac. In turn, Prince Sultan sent his greetings to the president. The audience was attended by Prince Bandar Ibn Sultan Ibn Abdul Aziz, Secretary General of the national security council and the French Ambassador to the kingdom Charles- Henri d'Aragon. On the other hand the 17th session of the Saudi- Yemeni co-ordination council will be held on May 22nd, at Al Mukalla under the chairmanship of Crown Prince Sultan Ibn Abdul Aziz, Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Defence and Aviation and Inspector General and the Yemeni Prime Minister Abdul Qader Bajamal. The Crown Prince will be the honourary guest at the 16th National day which will be held in Hodaida along with guest from around the world, then the Crown Prince will head the Saudi delegation at the meeting of the Saudi-Yemeni co-ordination Council. Sources said the agenda of the Saudi-Yemeni co-ordination Council will cover economic, development and trade cooperation between the two countries as well as agricultural, transport, scientific, educational, and health cooperation. The council will also discuss cooperation in the field of environment, oil, minerals and the media. The sources added that a number of agreement will be signed during the meeting. In a statement President Ali Abdullah Saleh praised relations between Saudi Arabia and Yemen and said they are excellent, and there is coordination between political leaderships of two countries both at the governmental and people levels. President Saleh pointed out that Saudi and Yemen have very high-level of cooperation in security and intelligence fields in terms of fighting terror. In response to a question about next round for Yemen-Saudi Coordination Council, the President said that the Council's preparatory and follow-up committees held meetings and reported their results to the Council that would hold its meetings on the 22nd of May. The President praised the role of Saudi Arabia and its support to Yemen describing the Kingdom as the a brethren country who always helps Yemen in its development. He added that Yemen is standing by other GCC countries. The President praised the talks held with the Crown Prince in Hong Kong. On the other hand Hisham Sharaf, Under Secretary of State of the Ministry of Planning and International Co-operation and Chairman of the Preparatory Committee of the Saudi-Yemeni Co-ordination Council said in a statement that the session will witness the signing of several agreement concerning major and rural roads, electricity and memorandum of understanding in the field of social work special minutes on customs and excise cooperation and an agreement for marine wealth. Hisham Sharaf added that the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and Yemen have signed an agreement according to which the Kingdom will finance Hodaida General Hospital and the project of the Faculty of Medicine and Science at Taiz University, in addition to other projects such as the Faculty of Sciences in Hadramout and rural roads. The Saudi-Yemeni Preparatory Committee had met in Aden last February when a number of recommendations were discussed to finance a number of projects in the fields of roads, technical education, ports and gas energy. Discussions are held at the moment with the Saudi Fund for Development to finance these projects. Hishan Sharaf praised the role of the Kingdom and its support to Yemen. Crown Prince Sultan Ibn Abdul Aziz had stated that relations between Saudi Arabia and Yemen are in their best conditions, and there is a coordination between political leaderships of two countries both at the governmental and people levels. At a press conference he held at the end of King Faisal Prize celebration, Saudi Defence Minister said that there is no dispute between the two neighbouring countries. He pointed out that Saudi and Yemen have very high-level of cooperation in security and intelligence fields in terms of fighting terror. On the other hand Crown Prince Sultan Ibn Abdul Aziz, Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Defence and Aviation and Inspector General and head of the National Commission for Wildlife Conservation and Development (NCWCD), has addressed a message to Prince Saud Al-Faisal, Foreign Minister and Director General of the National Commission for Wildlife Conservation and Development NCWCD regarding the Saudi Falcons club. In his message the Crown Prince issued his instructions for the project to be discussed at the Board meeting. The Project aims at preserving different kinds of falcons and hawks from extinction. Prince Saud Al-Faisal, said this generous initiative by Prince Sultan Ibn Abdul Aziz stressed the pioneering role the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia under the leadership of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques plays in preserving the environment and wild life. Dr Abdul Aziz Abu Zinada thanked Prince Sultan Ibn Abdul Aziz for his generous gesture and praised the Second Deputy Prime Minister's continuous efforts in preserving the environment and the wildlife, which are based on the rules of the true Islamic Sharia. In another development the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Abdullah Ibn Abdul Aziz has issued a royal decree appointing Mohammed Ibn Abdul Aziz Ibn Mohammed Al-Shatri as Advisor / No 1/ of excellent rank at the office of Minister of Defense and Aviation and Inspector General. The decree stated that the appointment came after a proposal submitted to the Monarch by Crown Prince Sultan Ibn Abdul Aziz, Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Defense and Aviation and Inspector General. Meantime Crown Prince Sultan Ibn Abdul Aziz, Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Defence and Aviation and Inspector General affirmed that the Yemeni-Saudi ties live the best of its stages as the two leaderships exchange great trust. He said during his meeting with the Yemen's Higher Education Minister Saleh Ba- Sorah, Prince Sultan said the trust between the King Abdullah Ibn Abdul Aziz and President Saleh could reach solutions for the 60- years-long borders dispute. He affirmed that he looks forward for his coming visit to Yemen to head the Saudi side in the Yemeni-Saudi Coordinative Council to be held soon in Mukalla, as well as for a meeting with President Saleh. He said that Yemen and Saudi Arabia are one country, urging the ministers of higher education both in Yemen and the Kingdom to double efforts to enhance relations between the two countries in field of higher education and scientific research. Ba-Sorah convoyed regards of President Saleh for the King Abdullah and Prince Sultan. He also briefed Prince Sultan on the outcomes of his meeting with his Saudi counterpart. Checks of donations presented by Crown Prince Sultan Ibn Abdul Aziz, Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Defense and Aviation and Inspector General amounting to $ 1.5 million for supporting a number of Singapore's Islamic societies during the Crown Prince's visit to Singapore on April 10-12 were handed over at Islamic Call Society headquarters. Saudi Ambassador to Singapore Mohammed Amin Kurdi handed over the checks to chiefs of the societies as follows: Islamic Higher Council ($ 500,000), Islamic Call Society ($ 500,000) and Al-Mohammadiyah Society ($ 500,000). The handing over ceremony was attended by Singapore's Minister of State for Foreign Affairs Zein Al-Abdein Rashid, Singapore's Mufti, a group of Muslim leaders and representatives of Singaporean mass media. At Prince Sultan Humanitarian City Dr Abdul Aziz Al Shamekh said a large number of patients suffering from meningitis recover through the city rehabilitation program, he said the city is always developing its program according to international progress in this field. Meanwhile the Governor of Qassim region chaired the council's meeting in Buraidah. The Secretary General of the Council said the council extended its thanks and gratitude to the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Abdullah Ibn Abdul Aziz for reducing the prices of gasoline and benzene and for building 16,000 housing units for the needy in the Kingdom. He welcomed Crown Prince Sultan's visit. Meanwhile Prince Faisal Ibn Bandar received the Secretary General of King Abdul Aziz Center for National dialogue. He also visited the department for combating drugs in Al Qassim. Upon his arrival at the venue, Prince Sultan was received by Prince Faisal Ibn Bandar Ibn Abdul Aziz, Governor of Al-Qassim region, Minister of Higher Education Khalid Ibn Muhammad Al-Anqari, Minister of Finance Ibrahim Abdul-Aziz Al-Assaf, President of Al-Qassim University and a number of Princes and senior officials. Prince Sultan laid the foundation stone of the Science College, the second phase of the university's infrastructure project, main services complex project and the first phase of the Sports Facilities executed with a total sum of SR 370 million. In a speech during the inauguration ceremony of the first scientific international seminar on camels, currently ongoing in Buraidah, Qassim region, Crown Prince Sultan called for the set up of an international center for research and studies on camels. He urged the camel-related professional companies and Saudi universities to contribute to the establishment of this important scientific facility and make use of its findings. Crown Prince Sultan Ibn Abdul Aziz, Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Defence and Aviation and Inspector General, graced a speech ceremony at the guest building in Buraidah and a dinner party held in his honor by Prince Faisal Ibn Bandar Ibn Abdul Aziz, the governor of Qassim region. The Crown Prince conveyed the greetings of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Abdullah Ibn Abdul Aziz to the citizens, noting that the King will visit the region as it has a special status to him. In his speech, Prince Faisal Ibn Bandar Ibn Abdul Aziz, the Governor of Qassim region conveyed the pledge of allegiance to the King and the Crown Prince. He stressed that terrorism and enemies are being defeated and affirmed that the kingdom renounces extremism and supports the values and principles of dialogue and peace. Then the Crown Prince graced a dinner party. The party was attended by princes, ministers, sheikhs, senior officials and groups of dignitaries and citizens. The Director of Al-Qassim University Dr.Khaled Abdul Rahman Al-Homoudi expressed his appreciation of Crown Prince Sultan Ibn Abdul Aziz, Deputy Prime Minister, Defense and Aviation Minister and Inspector General, for his directives to establish an International Center for Camel Research at the university. In a press statement, Al-Homoudi stressed that Crown Prince Sultan's directives will have a positive impact on the growth of animal resources especially in Al-Qassim region which has the world largest camel market. He also said that such a center will link Saudi Research Centers and Universities to their various counterparts and that will help us gain more and more expertise, pointing out to the importance of the Crown Prince's care in patronizing the first international seminar about camels. He expressed his optimism that the participants in the seminar will come up with positive results, which can help increase in camel resources. |
