AN ADDITIONAL BUDGET WILL BE ALLOCATED FOR UPDATING EQUIPMENT, TECHNOLOGIES AND MACHINERIES OF THE FOUR SECTORS OF THE ARMED FORCES: PRINCE SULTAN PRAISES MEMBERS OF THE ARMED FORCES. THE INAUGURATION OF PRINCE SULTAN EDUCATIONAL COMPLEX IN WADI AL DAWASER PROVINCE. Crown Prince Sultan Ibn Abdul Aziz, Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Defense and Aviation and Inspector General, received at his office in Riyadh commanders and senior officers of the armed forces, led by Chief of General Staff General Salih Ibn Ali Al Mohayya, who came to greet him. Crown Prince Sultan delivered an extemporaneous speech before his audience. However, amongst the troubled world of today, the armed forces of Saudi Arabia is stable, strong, firm and developing, Crown Prince Sultan stated. Despite the fact that the armed forces was not modernized for the last five to six years, the money allocated in the state budget by the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Abdullah Ibn Abdul Aziz to have an independent budget for updating the equipment, technologies and machines of the four sectors of the armed forces, will be replenished next year, Crown Prince Sultan told the officers, adding that this will be in addition to the traditional budget of the armed forces. Crown Prince Sultan Ibn Abdul Aziz, Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Defense and Aviation and Inspector General, received Sheikh Abdul Aziz bin Abdullah Al Al-Sheikh, the Kingdom's Grand Mufti and Chairman of Senior Ulema Commission and Religious Research and Ifta Department Crown Prince Sultan Ibn Abdul Aziz, Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Defense and Aviation and Inspector General, received at his office in Riyadh New Zealand's Minister of Trade and Defense Dr. Philip Goff, who is also leader of his country's delegation to the Saudi New Zealand joint committee. At the outset of the meeting, Crown Prince Sultan welcomed the New Zealand minister and accompanying delegation, underlining the importance of enhancing the relations between the two countries. During the meeting, they exchanged cordial talks and discussed aspects of cooperation between the two countries and ways of enhancing them in all fields. The meeting was attended by the Minister of Commerce and Industry Dr. Hashim Ibn Abdullah Yamani, who led the Saudi side to committee's meetings, senior protocol officials and New Zealand's Ambassador to the Kingdom Jim Howel. On the other hand Crown Prince Sultan Ibn Abdul Aziz, Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Defence and Aviation and Inspector General will patronize a conference and an exhibition on vocational training during the Hjri month of Dhul Qaeda in Riyadh. The Governor of the General Organization for Technical Education and Vocational Training Dr Ali Bin Nasser Al Ghufais said the conference under the auspices of Crown Prince Sultan Ibn Abdul Aziz aims at reviewing the latest developments in the field of vocational training and to exchange expertise. The Deputy governor for development Dr Saleh Al Amr said the conference will focus on two points the first will be technical education and vocational training covering also girls training and plans to improve this field in general while the second point will focus on researches in the fields of electronics, communications, computers, buildings and industrial productions. He added that research papers will be received by email and would be accepted according to the rules set up for the conference. Meantime Crown Prince Sultan Ibn Abdul Aziz, Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Defence and Aviation and Inspector General and Chairman of the National Commission for Wildlife Conservation and Development (NCWCD) has approved the participation of the Commission in the 5th Environmental Film Festival which will be held in Tunisia at Al Qayrawan. The Commission will participate with a film covering the problem of the increase in the number of Baboons and reasons for the increase. The Commission had previously participated in the Festival and collected a number of prizes. On the other hand Prince Faisal Ibn Sultan, Secretary-General of the city, received the Austrian president who visited the Prince Sultan City for Humanitarian Services. President Fischer watched a documentary on the city's history and achievements. He also toured the premises of the city with its officials and viewed its many facilities. Following the tour, an agreement was signed between the Austrian Minister of Health and Women's Affairs, Maria Rauch-Kallat, and Prince Faisal ibn Sultan on exchange personnel and expertise in the medical field. Prince Faisal Ibn Sultan talked to the press after the visit and said the Prince Sultan Charitable organization has completed the building of 1000 housing units in Makkah Al-Mukkaramah and distributed them to those in need. He explained the agreement signed with the Austrian Ministry of Health will open the door for more cooperation between the city and the Austrian Ministry of Health. Prince Faisal offered his thanks to philanthropists who help the foundation. It is worth mentioning that The Sultan Ibn Abdul Aziz Al- Saud Foundation crowns the many generous charities supported by Prince Sultan Ibn Abdul Aziz, whose benevolence is acknowledged within the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and around the world. The positive dimensions and long term perspectives of this giving includes the construction and care of Mosques, continuing education and aid to the sick and needy. The Foundation undertakes the task of managing and coordinating a part of these charities for the benefit of the Kingdom and its Citizens. The Foundation's projects fall within four main categories; medicine, science, technology and education. With the completion of the Sultan Ibn Abdul Aziz Humanitarian City, a 1,200,000 square meter medical facility, the Foundation will strive to provide health and social care for the elderly, handicap and children with special needs. The Sultan Ibn Abdul Aziz Science and Technology Center is an innovative project under development that will provide opportunities for the Kingdom's and the Gulf's youth to learn about science and technology. Its programs are designed to make learning fun and interesting. This approach, in turn, enables them to play an effective role in the future of science and technology within the Kingdom. The city comprises a full-fledged center for medical diagnosis, 18 large and small operation theatres, a 250-bed rehabilitation center, a recovery center, a 150-bed center for the elderly, a child development center and an education and training center. The humanitarian city encompasses both in-patient and outpatient facilities. An extensive range of rehabilitation programs is available including services for paediatric, neurological, brain injury and spinal cord injury. The child development center provides an integrated educational and therapeutic program for 150 children who have special educational needs due to physical handicaps, developmental disabilities or complex health problems. The outpatient clinics encompass 13 clinics with 55 examination rooms and eight operating rooms. Important features of the outpatient clinics are the day surgery center and the cranio-facial surgery center. A conference hall, sports hall, staff housing and an administration building, supplement the city' facilities. The foundation runs a number of projects within and outside the Kingdom. They include the Sultan Science and Technology Center in Al Khobar, an innovative project under development that will provide opportunities for youth to learn about science and technology. In combining medicine, science and technology, Medunet (Sultan Ibn Abdul Aziz Medical and Educational Telecommunications Program), utilizes the latest state of the art telecommunications facilities. These facilities were created to provide access to medical research resources in cooperation with major universities and research centers around the world. In order to provide education and understanding of the Arab and Islamic culture, the Foundation established the Sultan Ibn Abdul Aziz Continuing Education Program at the Gulf University in Bahrain and the Sultan Ibn Abdul Aziz Arab & Islamic Studies Program at the University of California, Berkeley. Since its beginning on Shaban 20, 1415 (January 21, 1995), the Foundation has strived to promote humanitarian, educational, social and cultural services in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and around the world. The Foundation's programs encompass a variety of fields including medicine, science & technology, communications and education. Through its efforts, the Foundation hopes to improve the skills, ability, aptitude and understanding of those who's interest or needs fall within our programs. God willing, these efforts will grant individuals the tools necessary to reach their goals and aspirations. As is known throughout the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, Prince Sultan Ibn Abdul Aziz maintains a sincere interest in the care of a sector of citizens who are dearest to him. This group includes the sick, the elderly, the handicap and children in need of special care during early childhood. In order to provide a tangible and meaningful way of assisting these people, the Sultan Ibn Abdul Aziz Humanitarian City was established by Royal Decree on 15th September 1996. This City was established to provide healthcare and rehabilitative services at the highest level of professionalism and craftsmanship. As the largest project undertaken, it crowns the many generous programs managed by the Foundation. Prince Sultan Ibn Abdul Aziz laid the cornerstone of the City on 30/5/1417 (October 12, 1996). The City is set on one million square meters in Binban, a small community 30 kilometers north of Riyadh, Saudi Arabia' s Capital City. The city occupies 200,000 square meters Sultan Ibn Abdul Aziz Science & Technology Center is one of the main projects of Sultan Ibn Abdul Aziz Al-Saud Foundation. It represents another generous donation by Prince Sultan Ibn Abdul Aziz Al-Saud to the people of Saudi Arabia. Prince Sultan genuine interest in the welfare and educational and scientific development of Saudi Arabia, and especially its youth, has initiated the idea of building a state-of-the-art science and technology center in the city of Khobar, located in the Eastern Province of Saudi Arabia. Prince Sultan also realized the crucial role that science centers do play in enhancing science education, as well as exciting youngsters about the fields of science and technology and ultimately encouraging them to make career choices in these important fields. The Sultan Ibn Abdul Aziz Science & Technology Center aims at providing all the necessary facilities that helps its visitors in educating themselves about science and technology. It uses interactive and hands-on exhibits that engage visitors and makes science learning a family, enjoyable experience. Its library and educational facilities complements its exhibits by offering programs and resources that educate the visitors about certain fields of science and technology in which they are interested. On the other hand under the auspices of Crown Prince Sultan Ibn Abdul Aziz the first meeting of the Prince Salman Center for Disability Research (PSCDR), will be held on the 19th of April 2006. Prince Salman Center for Disability Research is considered to be one of the leading centers in the field of disability research, and the sole Center specializing in this domain Kingdom wide. The establishment of the Center was initiated thanks to a proposal from Prince Sultan Ibn Salman Ibn Abdul Aziz, Chairman, Executive Board of the Disabled Children Association. The proposal received special consideration from the Executive Board of the Association, thus paving the way for the Center to pursue its mission, enriching knowledge and developing principles of prevention and care for the disabled, on the basis of rigorous science. The Center has become a reality, thanks to the patronage of Prince Sultan Ibn Salman Ibn Abdul Aziz, Chairman, Executive Board of the Disabled Children Association. His initiative has contributed to the efforts that aim at alleviating the difficulties of the disabled and their families, and aims at enhancing the role of this group in socio-economic development and humanitarian activities. The issue of disability and its social and economic repercussions constitutes one of the most important challenges facing contemporary societies at present. One of the most effective means to deal with this issue is to investigate the causes of disabilities. In addition, overcoming obstacles that constrain people with disabilities and limit their productivity and independence in society are worth studying. The Center, which is motivated by religious and humanitarian concerns for persons with disabilities, is a major contribution to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and its benevolent society. The Center has adopted plans and ambitious goals which will be realized at the hands of highly qualified personnel. Prince Sultan Ibn Salman said: The Prince Salman Center for Disability Research was established to address the real & important needs of persons with disabilities & their families. In addressing those needs, the PSCDR has set its goal as the promotion, conduct & support of scientific research & the application of new knowledge to the benefit of persons with disabilities & their families. We believe the PSCDR has a great opportunity to advance the causes of persons with disabilities. In addressing that opportunity, the PSCDR will undertake basic & applied research projects in the biological, behavioral & social sciences; it will promote & develop collaborations with scientists both within the Kingdom & world-wide; & it will collect and disseminate information through all media including the Internet. We hope the PSCDR will advance new insights into the causes of disabilities & develop new strategies to prevent them, or reduce their impact on an individual. We further aspire to a time when new knowledge created by research will lead to more effective service & support systems for persons with disabilities & their families. On behalf of Crown Prince Sultan Ibn Abdul Aziz, Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Defense and Aviation and Inspector General, Prince Khalid Ibn Sultan Ibn Abdul Aziz, Assistant Minister of Defense and Aviation and Inspector General for Military Affairs, inaugurated Prince Sultan Educational Complex in Wadi Al Dawaser province. Addressing the opening ceremony, the Minister of Education Dr. Abdullah bin Salih Al Obeid said the complex was constructed at a cost of SR13 million. On his part, Prince Khalid announced that Crown Prince Sultan Ibn Abdul Aziz has ordered the construction of a sports gallery at the complex at his own expense. Prince Khalid arrived at Wadi Al Dawaser and was received by a number of officials. Prince Khalid Ibn Sultan Ibn Abdul Aziz, the Assistant Minister of Defense and Aviation for Military Affairs, arrived in the Eastern Region coming from Riyadh. Upon arrival and departure, he was received and seen off by a number of officials. Prince Khalid Ibn Sultan Ibn Abdul Aziz, the Assistant Minister of Defense and Aviation for Military Affairs, patronized a graduation ceremony of cadets of the Technical Studies Institute of the Air Forces in Dhahran. Following the graduation ceremony, Prince Khalid Ibn Sultan praised the great capabilities enjoyed by the institute and described its graduates as the backbone of the air forces. The ceremony was attended by a number of officials. On the other hand Crown Prince Sultan Ibn Abdul Aziz has issued his directives for the medical flight to transport the General Director of Education in Najran Hassan Ahmed Al Qurbi who suffers from a brain haemorrhage to Riyadh Specialized Hospital. The Governor of Najran Prince Mishaal Ibn Saud Ibn Abdul Aziz had asked the Crown Prince to transport the General Director to Riyadh. |
