The Prince Khaled Al-Faisal Chair for Consolidating Saudi Moderation Approach will organize a series of dialogues on moderation with the participation of notable speakers, including ministers and experts, according to an official of the chair.

Administrative supervisor of the chair Saeed al-Malki confirmed this after he briefed Makkah Governor Prince Khaled on the achievements and plans of the chair at the governor’s office in Jeddah on Tuesday.

Rector of King Abdulaziz University Osama Taib was also present at the occasion.

“The dialogues in 2012 will be accompanied by forums, workshops and exhibitions,” Al-Malki said.

The chair has also started working on an encyclopedia on Saudi moderation and agreements have been made with specialized firms for the technical planning of the encyclopedia, he added.

Prince Khaled founded the chair with the aim of spreading a culture of moderation among young people at King Abdulaziz University in 2009.

The chair helps researchers, academics, and thinkers to make significant contributions in driving deep the concept of moderation in the country and outside.

The past achievements of the chair include preparation of 11 researcher papers with the participation of nine Saudi universities and two Egyptian universities. More than 1,300 students have benefited from various moderation programs conducted by the chair, he said.

The chair also translated a book on the Saudi method of moderation from Arabic to English, French and Spanish. It also released documentary films and organized contests focusing on moderation.

“The chair also set up a youth club which has a membership of 200 youths. The club also organizes cultural, intellectual and social activities to spread a culture of moderation among the youth,” he added.

Meanwhile, Prince Abdulaziz bin Majed bin Abdulaziz, Governor of Madinah Region patronized a symposium entitled 'Prophet's Rights of His Nation' organized by Islamic University of Madinah in cooperation with Global Organization for Introduction of Prophet Mohammed (Peace be upon him).

Addressing the Symposium, Sheikh Abdulaziz bin Abdullah Al Al-Sheikh, the Grand Mufti of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, President of Senior Scholars Council and General Presidency of Scholarly Research and Ifta, said that one of the Prophet's greatest rights of his nation is to clarify that his message is addressed to the whole world and, mercy for all peoples, calling on Muslims all over the world to adhere to and follow up Prophet's Sunnah.

In another speech, Dr. Abdullah bin Abdulmohsen Al-Turki, the Secretary General of Muslim World League said, 'The Global Organization for Introduction of Prophet Mohammed (Peace be upon him) has been supported by the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz Al Saud and the Crown Prince, as the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia was founded on the Islamic religion.'

The Speakers of Legislative, National and Representatives Councils of Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) member states this week held a coordination meeting chaired by the Speaker of Majlis Al-Shura Dr. Abdullah bin Mohammed Al Al-Sheikh on the sidelines of 7th meeting of the Parliamentary Union Conference of the member states of the Jeddah-based Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC).

During the meeting, the agenda of 7th session of the meetings of Parliamentary Union Conference of the OIC was discussed. Meanwhile, the speakers of Arab Parliamentary Group in OIC held a coordination meeting where Speaker of Majlis Al-Shura Dr. Abdullah bin Mohammed Al Al-Sheikh participated in the meeting.

During the meeting, they discussed agenda of the conference. President Benigno Aquino III of The Philippines will open the 7th session of the Parliamentary Union Conference of OIC member countries.

Dr. Al Al-Sheikh leads his country's delegation to the conference.

The conference will discuss parliamentary, political, economic and social issues concerning Islamic countries and peoples as well as the role of Islamic parliaments in enhancing democracy, justice and peace.

The GCC group is set to present the candidature of Dr. Mohammed bin Saad Al-Salem, member of the Saudi Shura Council, to the post of Member of the Executive Committee of the Parliamentary Union Conference for the term from 2012-2013 during the session. They will also nominate Dr. Abdullah bin Muhareb Al-Dhafeeri, member of the Saudi Shura Council, as Member of the Standing Specialized Committee for Cultural and Legal Affairs and Dialogue Among Religions and Civilizations of the Parliamentary Union Conference.

The speakers of Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) member states, assembling at the seventh session of OIC member states parliaments, hosted by Indonesian parliament, valued the decisions made by the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz Al Saud to expand the political and public participation of the Saudi women, and to enable them to vote and to be nominated to Majlis Al-Shoura and similarly to have the same rights in the municipal councils.

Sheikh Dr. Abdullah bin Mohammed bin Ibrahim Al Al-Shiekh, Speaker of Majlis Al-Shoura of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, led his country's delegation to the conference which was opened this week by the Indonesian President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono.
