Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques congratulates Saudis over National Day, says celebration of this day is reminder of state founder’s achievements

King Abdullah receives Yemeni President Saleh, discusses recent developments in Yemen with him

Second Deputy Premier orders preparation of school in Mogadishu

The Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz Al Saud chaired the Cabinet session held at Al-Yamamah palace.

At the outset of the session, the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques briefed the Cabinet on the talks, consultations and contacts he recently held with a number of leaders of brotherly and friendly countries and their envoys on means of enhancing cooperation and on the latest developments at regional and international levels.

The King briefed the Cabinet on the talks he held with Emir Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani of Qatar and the message he sent to Interim President Foued Mebazaa of Tunisia.

The Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques also briefed the Cabinet on the telephone call he received from German Chancellor Angela Merkel.

The King briefed the Cabinet on the audiences he held for US Deputy Secretary of State William Burns and Member of the Politburo of the Central Committee of the Ruling Communist Party of China Chang Qow Lee.

In a statement to Saudi Press Agency (SPA) following the session, Minister of Culture and Information Dr. Abdulaziz bin Mohieddin Khoja said that the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques addressed the Cabinet on the 81st National Day of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, saying 'the celebration of this day reminds us of the great achievements made by the founder of this country, late King Abdulaziz bin Abdulrahman Al Saud whose approach was followed by his sons.

This achievement was based on firm fundamental principles, including adherence to the Holy Quran and the Sunnah, exerting efforts, overcoming all challenges, pursuit of development to achieve growth and development in various fields throughout the country while preserving the values and fundamentals, and living in security and stability in light of a national unity that has become a unique model in appreciation and cohesion between the leaders of this country and its loyal people.

The Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques congratulated the people of Saudi Arabia on this occasion, directing that the celebration of this day should reflect the good values and manners of the Kingdom's people as well as the progress in various development fields the Kingdom has achieved.

Afterwards, Dr. Khoja said the Cabinet heard a number of reports on the latest developments at Arab and international levels and noted, in this regard, the statement by the 136th session of the Arab League on various issues of joint Arab action, and the decisions issued at the end of 88th session of the Arab League's Economic and Social Council.

Dr. Khoja stated that the Cabinet then continued discussion of its agenda and issued the following decisions:


After a review of the report of the Foreign Minister and after consideration of the Shoura Council's resolution No. (46/45) dated on 25/7/1432 H., the Cabinet decided the following:

1- Approval of the Headquarters Agreement between the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the Muslim World League.

2- Approval of the Protocol attached to the Headquarters Agreement signed in Riyadh on 10/4/1432 H.


The Cabinet approved a number of measures regarding the implementation of the 'Second Phase' of the assignment of school transportation to the private sector for students of Public Education (boys) and female teachers and raised the percentage of the number of students covered under the project of school transport in the Kingdom.

The Cabinet approved a number of measures pertaining to the difficulties facing the occupation of the posts of directors of internal audit units in government bodies.

The Cabinet approved a number of measures pertaining to the difficulties facing fish investment.

The Cabinet authorized the Ministry of Transportation to set engineering designs for railway networks between the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) Member States and to follow-up the implementation of the project.

The Ministry of Finance shall approve the necessary funds for the project.

Meanwhile, King Abdullah received President Ali Abdullah Saleh of Yemen.

During the audience, President Saleh thanked the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques for the care given to him and to a number of Yemen's senior leaders while they were receiving treatment at Saudi hospitals.

President Saleh also appreciated the Kingdom's stance supporting Yemen in light of the current crisis as well as the efforts exerted to overcome the crisis and achieve national interest for the Yemeni people.

For his part, the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques thanked the Yemeni President for his noble feelings, asking Allah Almighty to grant the Yemeni President and the brothers in Yemen all success to overcome the current crisis, stressing the Kingdom's stance supporting a unified, safe and stable Yemen.

Then, the two leaders discussed the latest developments in Yemen.

The audience was attended by Prince Muqrin bin Abdulaziz, Chief of General Intelligence; Yemeni Prime Minister Dr. Ali Mohammed Mujawar; and President of the Council of Representatives Yahya Ali Al-Raee.

On the other hand, the Saudi National Campaign for the Relief of the Somali people, in implementation of the directives by King Abdullah, started receiving a shipment of Saudi dates in preparation for delivering it to the victims of famine in Somalia.

The campaign has initiated coordination for receipt of the 500 tons of dates of a total of 2000 tons to be delivered by sea to Somalia.

Prince Naif bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, Second Deputy Premier and Minister of Interior who is also the General Supervisor of the Saudi National Campaign for Relief of the Somali People has directed to operate 'Bnadir' hospital in the Somali capital, Mogadishu, and equip it with necessary equipment in addition to emergency medical supplies.

The Second Deputy Premier expressed thanks to and appreciation of those who have contributed to the campaign, pointing out that by their response to the call to contribute, they embodied the unity of ranks of the Saudi leadership and the people in supporting humanitarian causes, at both official and public levels.

'The humanitarian role shouldered by the Kingdom to mitigate sufferings of the needy all over the world incarnated its role in serving Islam and Muslims, in accordance to the tradition initiated by the Founder King Abdulaziz bin Abdulrahman', he added.

Second Deputy Premier concluded by appealing to God Al-Mighty to best reward the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz Al Saud for his generous humanitarian initiatives to assist and help the Somali people.
