In weekly session under Deputy Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques Prince Sultan: Cabinet renews welcome of peaceful transition of power in Egypt

Prince Sultan, French Prime Minister Fillon discuss developments in region

Deputy Custodian, Second Deputy Premier tackle with Qatar’s premier recent regional, international developments

Deputy Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques Prince Sultan bin Abdulaziz Al Saud chaired the Cabinet session held at Al-Yamamah Palace.

At the outset of the session, the Deputy Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques briefed the Cabinet on the telephone calls the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz Al Saud received from President Barack Obama of the United States of America and the message the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques received from President Dmitry Medvedev of the Russian Federation. The message was delivered to the Second Deputy Premier and Minister of Interior by Alexander Sultanov, Special Representative of the president of Russia to the Middle East who is also Russian Deputy Foreign Minister.

The Deputy Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques also briefed the Cabinet on the meetings he held with Prime Minister Francois Fillon of France; Prime Minister Hamad bin Jasim bin Jabir Al Thani of the State of Qatar. The Deputy Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques stressed the strong bilateral relations between the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the two brotherly and friendly countries.

In a statement to Saudi Press Agency (SPA) following the session, the Minister of Culture and Information Dr. Abdulaziz bin Mohieddin Khoja said the Cabinet discussed the latest developments in the region and welcomed again the peaceful transition of power in the brotherly Arab Republic of Egypt and expressed hope that efforts of the Egyptian Armed Forces will restore peace, stability and tranquility to the brotherly Arab Republic of Egypt, paving the way for the establishment of a national government that achieves the hopes and aspirations of the brotherly Egyptian people for peace, stability and economic prosperity and helps the brotherly Arab Republic of Egypt maintain in continuity its historic role at Arab, Islamic and International arenas.

The Cabinet also welcomed the outcomes of the meetings of the 11th session of Saudi-Moroccan Joint Committee held in Rabat last week and its positive impact on the existing cooperation between the two brotherly countries, particularly in strengthening the role of the private sector and joint investments.

Minister of Culture and Information also said the Cabinet then discussed items on its agenda and issued a number of decisions as follows:

The Cabinet approved a code of conduct to repress piracy and armed assault on ships in the Western Indian Ocean and Gulf of Aden in 2009, which was signed in Djibouti on 29/01/2009.

The Cabinet approved resolutions of the 24th Congress of the Universal Postal Union held in Geneva (Switzerland) in 2008 which included a number of amendments to certain documents, as follows:

1- The Additional Protocol (the 8th) of the Constitution of the Universal Postal Union.

2 - The additional Protocol (the 1st) of the General Regulations of the Universal Postal Union.

3 - Universal Postal Agreement and the Final Protocol.

The Cabinet approved adding a representative of the Ministry of Education to be named by it, to the membership of the Council for Health Services.

The Cabinet also approved term extensions of Isa bin Mohammed Al-Isa and Yousef bin Abdullah Al-Benian as representative members of the Private Sector in the Board of Directors of the General Organization for Technical and Vocational Training for three years starting Feb 14, 2011.

The Cabinet approved the appointments of Dr. Sami bin Mohsen Barom and Dr. Sameer bin Abdulaziz Al-Tabib as members of the Board of Directors of the General Organization for Technical and Vocational Training for three years starting Feb 14, 2011.

The Cabinet approved a number of appointments as follows:

1- Dr. Abdurrahman bin Mohammed Al-Barak appointed to the post of Undersecretary of the Ministry for Education (Rank 15) at the Ministry of Education.

2- Mohammed bin Moqhem Al-Moqhem appointed to the post of Administrative Advisor (Rank 15) at the Ministry of Petroleum and Mineral Resources.

3- Dr. Saleh bin Ibrahim Babeer appointed to the post of Head of Translation Division (Rank 15) at the Bureau of Experts at the Cabinet.

4- Ali bin Abdullah Al-Jarbo appointed to the post of Minister Plenipotentiary at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

5- Mossad bin Mohammed Al-Ashaiwi appointed to the post of Permanent Representative of the Kingdom in Geneva ( Rank 14 ) at the Ministry of Commerce and Industry.

Meanwhile, Vice Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, Prince Sultan bin Abdulaziz Al Saud received at his palace Al-Aziziyah Sheikh Hamad bin Jassem bin Jabr Al Thani, Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of the State of Qatar.

The visiting senior Qatari official conveyed to the Vice Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, the greetings and appreciations of Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani, Emir of the State of Qatar.

In turn, the Vice Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques extended greetings and appreciation of the Qatar's Emir.

Also during the Audience, they exchanged cordial talks and reviewed the bilateral relations between the two countries and the latest developments at Arab, regional and international levels.

The audience was attended by Prince Khalid bin Sultan bin Abdulaziz, Assistant Minister of Defense and Aviation and Inspector General for Military Affairs; Prince Dr. Misha'al Bin Abdullah Bin Moussaed, Advisor to the Crown Prince; Prince Faisal bin Khalid bin Sultan bin Abdulaziz, Advisor at the Diwan of the Crown Prince; Prince Naif Bin Sultan Bin Abdulaziz; Prince Misha'al bin Sultan bin Abdulaziz; Dr. Moussaed Bin Mohammed Al-Aiban, Minister of State and Member of the Cabinet; Ali bin Abdullah Al Mahmoud, Qatar's Ambassador to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and a number of officials.

Second Deputy Premier, Prince Naif bin Abdulaziz Al Saud received at his office in the Interior Ministry Sheikh Hamad bin Jassem bin Jabr Al Thani, Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of the State of Qatar.

At the outset of the audience, the senior Qatari official conveyed to the Second Deputy Premier, the greetings and appreciations of Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani, Emir of the State of Qatar and in turn, Prince Naif bin Abdulaziz Al Saud extended greetings and appreciation to Qatar's Emir.

Also during the Audience, they exchanged cordial talks and discussed issues of common interest between the two countries in addition to reviewing the latest developments at Arab, regional and international levels.

The audience was attended by Dr. Moussaed Bin Mohammed Al-Aiban, Minister of State and Member of the Cabinet; Ali bin Abdullah Al Mahmoud, Qatar's Ambassador to Saudi Arabia and other senior number of civil and military officials.
