Prince Salman expresses appreciation to King Abdullah for his trust by appointing him as defense minister

Prince Sattam thanks King Abdullah for his precious trust

The Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz Al Saud issued the following Royal Orders:

First: The Prime Minister serves as Chairman of the Ministerial Committee for Administrative Organization and the Deputy Premier as the Committee's Deputy Chairman.

Second: The Prime Minister serves as Chairman of the Strategic Storage Program and the Deputy Premier as his Deputy.

Third: The Crown Prince and Deputy Premier serves as Deputy Chairman of the National Security Council while the Minister of Defense joins the Council as member.

Fourth: The Crown Prince and Deputy Premier serves as Chairman of the Higher Council for Islamic Affairs.

Fifth: The Deputy Premier serves as Deputy Chairman of the Higher Economic Council.

Sixth: The Deputy Premier serves as Deputy Chairman of the Higher Council for King Abdullah City for Atomic and Renewable Energy.

Seventh: The Deputy Premier serves as Deputy Chairman of the Military Service Council while the Minister of Defense joins the Council as member.

Eighth: Crown Prince and Deputy Premier serves as Chairman of the Saudi side to the Saudi Qatari Coordination Council while the Minister of Defense serves as his Deputy.

Ninth: The Deputy Premier serves as Chairman of the Saudi side to the Saudi Yemeni Coordination Council.

Tenth: The Deputy Premier serves as Chairman of the Special Committee of the Cabinet.

Eleventh: The Minister of Defense continues to serve as Chairman of the Board of the General Organization for Military Industries.

Twelfth: The Minister of Defense continues to serve as Chairman of the Board of the General Commission for Survey.

Thirteenth: The Minister of Defense continues to serve as Member of the Higher Commission for King Abdulaziz City for Science and Technology.

Fourteenth: The General Presidency for Meteorology and Protection of Environment will be affiliated to the Premier.

Fifteenth: The Minister of Economy and Planning serves as Chairman of the Economic Offset Committee. The Committee shall be reshuffled accordingly.

Sixteenth: The Secretary General of the Saudi Wildlife Commission serves as Chairman of its board. The Board of the Commission shall be reshuffled accordingly.

Seventeenth: In cooperation with the relevant bodies, the Experts Commission at the Cabinet shall revise the laws, regulations, orders and decisions which have been affected by the previous articles and to suggest what should be done in this regard to pave the way for completion of the necessary measures.

The concerned authorities should carry this Royal Order with immediate effect.

King Abdullah also issued the following Royal Orders:

First:

1- The Chairman of the General Commission for Civil Aviation serves as Chairman of its Board. The Board shall be reshuffled accordingly.

2- The assignments and responsibilities of Civil Aviation will be transferred from the Ministry of Defense to the General Commission for Civil Aviation whereas the staff serving in this field, the properties, documents, allocations and relevant funds should also be transferred accordingly.

3- A committee comprising the Ministry of Civil Service, Ministry of Finance, Ministry of Defense and the General Commission for Civil Aviation will be formed to forge an executive plan to implement the aforementioned items in para (2) of this article. The report should be submitted to the monarch in no more than three months of date.

Secondly: The Chairman of the General Commission for Civil Aviation serves as Chairman of the Board of the General Organization of Saudi Arabian Airlines. The Board shall be reshuffled accordingly. the General Organization of Saudi Arabian Airlines shall structurally be attached to the Premier.

Thirdly: In cooperation with the concerned authorities, the Experts Commission at the Cabinet will have to revise the laws, regulations, orders and decisions which have been affected by the previous articles and to suggest what should be done in this regard and to report, in no more than three months from date, to pave the way for the completion of the necessary procedures.

The concerned authorities should carry out this order with immediate effect.

Meanwhile, Prince Salman bin Abdulaziz and Prince Sattam bin Abdulaziz were sworn in before the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz Al Saud as new Minister of Defense and new Governor of Riyadh Region respectively.

The oath took place during an audience held by the monarch for princes, Ulema, sheikhs, ministers, senior civil and military officials and a group of citizens who came to greet and congratulate him on the blessed Eid Al-Adha.

For his part, Prince Salman bin Abdulaziz expressed deep pride and great appreciation and gratitude to the King for the precious trust by appointing him as defense minister, appealing to Allah the Almighty to help him fulfill the job as would be.

Prince Salman's replacement as new Governor of Riyadh also thanked the monarch for the royal trust bestowed on him, asking God to make it a complete success.

The audience was attended by a number of princes.

The attendees took lunch with the monarch.

On the other hand, Prince Salman extended congratulations to King Abdullah on the occasion of Eid al-Adha, and expressed deep pride and great appreciation and gratitude to king for the precious trust by appointed him as defense minister.

This came in a cable sent by Prince Salman to the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques on this occasion.

In the cable, Prince Salman looked forward to sincerely endeavor to develop all sectors of the Ministry of Defense and continue the march of the great efforts exerted by the late Prince Sultan bin Abdulaziz in building and strengthening the capabilities of the armed forces to perform its duties in defending Saudi Arabia.

Prince Salman received at his palace at Al Maazar quarter well-wishers who came to congratulate him on the royal confidence bestowed on him as well as to extend felicitations on the advent of Eid.

For his part, Prince Salman expressed gratitude and appreciation for their spelled sincere emotions, appealing to Allah to return this occasion while Islamic and Arab nations entertaining blessing and bliss.

The reception was attended by Prince Khalid bin Sultan bin Abdulaziz, Deputy Minister of Defense and a group of princes.
