Crown Prince Sultan says Saudi Arabia’s interest in Quran and Sunnah emanates from its belief in God

Indonesia’s president patronizes Prince Sultan’s Quran and Sunnah Memorization Contest concluding ceremony

Indonesian president urges more interest in these contests for their role in rectifying Islamic concepts, values

The organizing committee of Prince Sultan bin Abdulaziz Contest for Memorization of the holy Quran and Prophet's Sunnah in the ASIAN and Pacific countries honored winners of the competition.

Minister of Islamic Affairs, Endowments, Call and Guidance of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia Sheikh Saleh bin Abdulaziz Al Al-Shiekh, who represented Crown Prince Sultan bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, Deputy Premier, Minister of Defense and Aviation and Inspector General, to the event this year, and Indonesian Minister of Religious Affairs Soria Derma Ali were also present at the venue.

Imam and preacher of the Makkah-based Grand Mosque Sheikh Saud bin Ibrahim Al-Shuraim addressed the gathering and gave away prizes to the winners, wishing them prosperous future.

Meanwhile, the President of Indonesia Dr. Al-Hajji Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono opened a number of Saudi-funded developmental projects worth a total of more than SR24 million in the Province of Pakassi, a suburb of the Indonesian capital of Jakarta.

Sheikh Saleh bin Abdulaziz al Al-Sheikh, the Minister of Islamic Affairs, Endowments, Call and Guidance of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, attended the event.

Addressing the gathering, Shuhada Bahri, the General President of the Supreme Council for Islamic Call in Indonesia, said the projects include the endowment building of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques university premises at Mohammed Nasser Higher Institute for Dawa in Pakassi, Princess Nura bint Abdulrahman Al Saud Center for Dawa, Education and Humanitarian Works in Jakarta, Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques Library at the headquarters of the Supreme Council for Islamic Call in Indonesia, the endowment investment Printing Press Project and the Callers Training Courses Project.

For his part, the Minister of Religious Affairs of Indonesia Al-Hajji Soria Derma and the President respectively thanked the Kingdom's government for those gifts, appealing to Allah Almighty to make them useful for the Indonesian people.

Given the podium, Al Al-Shiekh lauded the Indonesian Supreme Council for Islamic Dawa, confirming that the two countries are sharing strong relations, particularly as far as Islamic Dawa is concerned.

The Saudi ambassador to Indonesia Abdulrahman Khayyat, a number of Saudi ambassadors to the countries taking part in Prince Sultan bin Abdulaziz Al Saud Contest for the Memorization of the Holy Quran and the Prophet's Sunnah for the ASIAN and the Pacific countries were also present.
