Eastern Region celebrates Crown Prince Sultan’s visit

Crown Prince opens projects, national programs, lays foundation stone for King Fahd University Project for Petroleum and Minerals

Prince Sultan donates SR60 million for Prince Sultan College for Visually Disabled, SR20 million for King Fahdi University Project for Petroleum and Minerals

Prince Khalid bin Sultan confers First Class Order of King Abdulaziz on Oman air force commander

Crown Prince Sultan bin Abdulaziz, Deputy Premier, Minister of Defense and Aviation and Inspector General, graced this week the closing ceremony of the 2nd National Competitiveness for Preparing Small Businesses working Plans and launching a number of Initiatives and Projects of King Fahd University for Petroleum and Minerals (KFUPM).

Upon arrival at the venue, he was received by Minister of Higher Education Dr. Khalid Al-Anqari and senior university professors. Crown Prince Sultan was accompanied by Prince Mohammed bin Fahd, Governor of the Eastern Region, and Prince Juluwe bin Abdulaziz bin Musaed, Deputy Governor of the Eastern Region.

Addressing the gathering, the Principal of KFUPM Dr. Khalid bin Saleh Al-Sultan welcomed the Crown Prince at Prince Sultan bin Abdulaziz Center for Science and Technology, a crucial part of the university.

He gave an account on the achievements of the center including its winning a distinguished place in petrochemical researches together with seven renowned universities out of 60 competitors and the winning of 46 patents from the United States and Japan. One hundred ninety more patents are underway, he said, adding that 35 educational chairs were so far established at the university.

Then Crown Prince Sultan's donation of SR20 million for the university's endowments project was announced. Also, a number of businessmen extended donations to the project.

The event was attended by a number of princes and senior civil and military officials.

Crown Prince Sultan also graced this evening the ceremony held in honor and celebrating of him by the Governorate of Eastern region.

Upon arrival at the venue, the Crown Prince was received by Prince Mohammed bin Fahd bin Abdulaziz, Governor of Eastern Region; Prince Jelawi bin Abdulaziz bin Musaed, Deputy Governor of Eastern Region; Prince Turki bin Mohammed bin Fahd bin Abdulaziz, President of the Organizing Committee of the Ceremony and Prince Abdulaziz bin Mohammed bin Fahd bin Abdulaziz.

Addressing the gathering, Prince Mohammed bin Fahd bin Abdulaziz, the Governor of the Eastern Region, announced that the people of the region have donated building Prince Sultan bin Abdulaziz College for the Visually Disabled, the first of its kind in the Middle East.

The College's Construction Committee has sought the assistance of a number of foreign expertise houses in this field, he said.

Then the ceremony's Organizing Committee announced the donation of SR60 million by Prince Sultan bin Abdulaziz Al Saud for the Eastern-Region-based Prince Sultan bin Abdulaziz College for the Visually Disabled.

Then Prince Turki bin Mohammed bin Fahd bin Abdulaziz briefed the Crown Prince on the vision, objectives and mission of Prince Sultan bin Abdulaziz College for the Visually Disabled.

After gift-giving and photo-taking sessions, Crown Prince Sultan bin Abdulaziz Al Saud graced a dinner party held on the occasion of his visit to the Region.

With warm festive farewell ceremony, he left the venue.

The ceremony was attended by Prince Khalid bin Fahd bin Khalid; Prince Khalid bin Saad bin Fahd; Prince Abdullah bin Khalid bin Turki; Prince Fahd bin Abdullah bin Musaed; Prince Sattam bin Saud bin Abdulaziz; Prince Mashari bin Saud bin Abdulaziz, Undersecretary of the National Guard for the Eastern Sector; Prince Sultan bin Abdullah bin Musaed; Prince Khalid bin Abdullah bin Mohammed bin Juluwe; Prince Mashari bin Abdullah bin Musaed; Prince Mishaal bin Badr bin Saud bin Abdulaziz, Assistant Undersecretary of the National Guard for the Eastern Region; Prince Badr bin Mohammed bin Abdullah bin Juluwe, Governor of Al-Ihsa Province, other princes, and senior civil and military officials.

Meanwhile, in line with the directives of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz, the Supreme Commander of the armed forces, Prince Khalid bin Sultan bin Abdulaziz, the Assistant Minister of Defense and Aviation for Military Affairs, awarded Major General Yahya Al-Juma, the Commander of the Omani air force, the First Class King Abdulaziz medal in recognition of his efforts in enhancing cooperation and friendship between the armed forces of the two countries.

The award-giving function was attended by Commander of Royal Saudi Air Force Lt General Abdul-Rahman Al-Faisal, and Omani ambassador to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia Dr Ahmad Al-Bousaedi.
