Sultan Qaboos of Oman pays visits to Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Egypt

His Majesty the Sultan discusses with leaders of three nations regional, international developments

The Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Abdullah Ibn Abdulaziz Al Saud and Sultan Qaboos bin Said of Oman held talks at the King's Palace in Jeddah on Saturday evening. The King welcomed Sultan Qaboos and the accompanying delegation, wishing them a pleasant stay in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

On his part, Sultan Qaboos expressed his thanks to and appreciation of the King for the warm welcome and generous hospitality extended to them.

During the talks, they discussed overall developments at Gulf, Arab, Islamic and international arenas, the positions of the two countries towards them, aspects of cooperation between the two countries, and ways of their enhancement in all fields to serve the interests of two countries and their brotherly peoples.

The Saudi side at the talks was comprised of Crown Prince Sultan Ibn Abdulaziz Al Saud, Deputy Premier, Minister of Defense and Aviation and Inspector General; Prince Abdulrahman Ibn Abdulaziz, Deputy Minister of Defense and Aviation and Inspector General; Prince Naif Ibn Abdulaziz, Second Deputy Premier and Minister of Interior; Prince Khalid Al-Faisal Ibn Abdulaziz, the Governor of Makkah Province; Prince Muqrin Ibn Abdulaziz, President of General Intelligence Presidency; Minister of State and Cabinet's Member Dr. Musaed bin Mohammed Al-Eiban; and Saudi Ambassador to Oman Abdulaziz bin Suleiman Al-Turki. The talks were also attended by the delegation accompanying Sultan Qaboos.

King Abdullah had held a luncheon in honor of Sultan Qaboos and the accompanying delegation.

The banquet was attended by Crown Prince Sultan bin Abdulaziz, Deputy Premier, Minister of Defense and Aviation and Inspector General, a number of other princes and senior officials.

Sultan Qaboos had arrived in Jeddah on May 29 on a two-day official visit to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

At King Abdulaziz International Airport, he was received by the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz Al Saud.

Sultan Qaboos was also received by Prince Naif bin Abdulaziz, Second Deputy Premier and Minister of Interior; Prince Khalid Al-Faisal bin Abdulaziz, Governor of Makkah Province; Minister of State and Member of the Cabinet Dr. Musaed bin Mohammed Al-Aiban; Chief of Royal Protocol Mohamed bin Abdulrahman Al-Tobaishi; Mayor of Jeddah Governorate Eng. Adel bin Ahmed Faqih; Saudi Ambassador to Oman Abdulaziz bin Salman Al-Turki; and Omani Ambassador-designate to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia Dr. Ahmed bin Hilal Al-Busaidi.

Sultan Qaboos shook hands with Prince Abdulrahman bin Abdulaziz, Deputy Minister of Defense and Aviation and Inspector General; Prince Miqren bin Abdulaziz, Chief of General Intelligence; Prince Turki bin Nasser bin Abdulaziz, General President of Meteorology and Environment Protection; Prince Miteb bin Abdullah bin Abdulaziz, Deputy Commander of the National Guard for Executive Affairs; Prince Misha'al bin Majed bin Abdulaziz, Governor of Jeddah; Prince Abdulaziz bin Abdullah bin Abdulaziz, Advisor to the King; Prince Mansour bin Nasser bin Abdulaziz, Advisor to the King; a number of ministers, senior civil and military officials; and members of the Embassy of Oman in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

The Muscat-based 'OMAN' newspaper has underscored the significance of the visit of Sultan Qaboos to Saudi Arabia and his meeting with King Abdullah and said it will have a great impact on the Saudi-Omani relations which are deep-rooted and distinguished.

Under the title of 'the Omani-Saudi Summit,' the newspaper pointed out that the talks of Sultan Qaboos with his brother King Abdullah Ibn Abdulaziz will give an impetus to the bilateral relations. 'These vital bilateral summit talks will open up new avenues of beneficial cooperation.'

A great importance has also been attached to the Omani-Saudi summit due to its expected positive outcome on bilateral relations and on nations of the region,' the paper noted.

In Doha, HH the Emir Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa al-Thani of Qatar led well-wishers to see off Sultan Qaboos and his delegation at the Doha International Airport at the conclusion of their three-day visit to Qatar.

A mission of honor headed by HE the Minister of State Abdullah bin Khalifa al-Attiyah was formed to accompany Sultan Qaboos.

Sultan Qaboos sent a cable of thanks and appreciation to the Emir for the warm reception and generous hospitality he and his delegation were accorded during their visit to Qatar.

Meanwhile, His Majesty Sultan Qaboos met Egyptian President HE Mohammed Hosni Mubarak here on Wednesday.

His Majesty the Sultan, who is on a private visit to Egypt, was accorded a warm welcome.

During the meeting, Mubarak wished His Majesty and the accompanying delegation a pleasant stay in the country.

His Majesty and Mubarak reviewed the good relations between the countries and means of enhancing them in all fields to serve the interest of the Omani and Egyptian people. They also reviewed the regional and international developments.
