Second Deputy Premier patronizes closing ceremony of Prince Naif 5th Competition for Memorization of Prophet's Hadith

Prince Naif patronized the opening ceremony of The Conference of Terrorism Between Intellectual Extremism and Extremist Ideology

Saudi Arabia was in the forefront of nations stressing dangers of terrorism, extremism

Prince Naif bin Abdulaziz, the Second Deputy Premier and Minister of Interior, who is also President of Supreme Commission of Prince Naif bin Abdulaziz Al Saud World Award for Prophet's Sunnah and Contemporary Islamic Studies patronized in Madinah last week the closing ceremony of Prince Naif bin Abdulaziz 5th Competition for Memorization of Prophet's Hadith.

Addressing the ceremony, Prince Naif wished that the competition would achieve its sublime objectives emanating from the mission of this blessed country and its Islamic leading roles under the leadership of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz Al Saud and the Crown Prince.

The Prince said, 'Thanks to the adherence of the Holy Quran and Prophet's Sunnah, this nation has benefited.

He also emphasized the importance of deepening the understanding of Sunnah by the young people and their upbringing according to its values and teachings based on moderation and keeping away from extremism.

Prince Naif noted that the results of the Competition during the past five years have been encouraging.

In his speech, the Kingdom's Mufti-General and Chairman of Senior Scholars Council and Department of Scholarly Research and Ifta Sheikh Abdulaziz bin Abdullah Al Al-Sheikh said, 'Praise be to Almighty Allah for bestowing upon this blessed country a leadership adhering and spreading the Holy Quran and Prophet's Sunnah,' noting that Prince Naif's 5th Competition for Memorization of Prophet's Hadith has brought about the well-being of Muslims all over the world.

On his part, Dr. Saed Al-Orabi Al-Harthi, Advisor to Prince Naif and Award's Secretary General said priorities of the late King Abdulaziz, ever since the foundation of the Kingdom, had been to educate the youth on the Holy Quran and Prophet's Sunnah and this correct approach has been pursued by the Kingdom's subsequent Kings until the era of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz and the Crown Prince.

Also in Madinah, Prince Naif patronized the opening ceremony of 'The Conference of Terrorism Between Intellectual Extremism and Extremist Ideology' organized by the Islamic University of Madinah in cooperation with the Ministry of Interior.

Addressing the Conference, Prince Naif said that the Conference is being held within the framework of the directives of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz Al Saud and the Crown Prince, to combat extremism and terrorism which threatens human life, violates the sanctity of religion, and endangers the capabilities of individuals and the nation.

He added, ' Emanating from its religious and moral duties, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia has been in the lead in exposing the dangers of terrorism and intellectual extremism and in confronting them with the force and approach of deterrence.

The Kingdom has been in the forefront of countries affected by intellectual extremism and extremist ideology, in which some of those who belong to the Kingdom have drifted, and have not pursued its approach and principles derived from the Holy Quran and Prophet's Sunnah based on moderation, justice, mercy, preservation of human dignity and the protection of human life and rights.'

Prince Naif wished the Conference all success in its efforts to counter extremist ideology and to protect individuals and the nation from its dangers and risks.

Then, Prince Naif opened the dialogue by renewing a call for drying up the sources of terrorism, saying, 'If all people do not work to dry up the sources of terrorism, it will continue in its existence.'

He stressed that security forces are making intensive efforts to detect terrorist acts and prevent their occurrence day and night, adding, 'There are more than 200 cases which have been aborted, as well as the arrest of those behind these cases. They are now in the hands of justice that adjudicates according to Sharia.'

Prince Naif said, 'We are still facing this terrorism. We are working day and night to detect these acts, to prevent their occurrence in our dear country and to contribute with others to prevent their occurrence in other places. The days and the future will reveal the facts of these matters. '

On the role of women in contributing to the preservation of the security of the homeland, Prince Naif said, 'Women play a big role in contributing along with their brothers, fathers and husbands in preserving the youth from slipping into the dangers in every field, protecting their morals and adhering to their religion.'

Prince Naif affirmed that the Program of Guidance has resulted into good and positive results, saying, 'This Program has won the admiration of security authorities in various countries. We have reached the strategy of intellectual security at King Saud University and have submitted it to Arab Ministers of Interior. This is a scientific work that can benefit those people working in the Program of Guidance. We welcome any scientific studies leading to the establishment of a fixed Center of Guidance'.

Prince Naif added, ' Thanks to the intensive efforts, directives and support of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques and the Crown Prince to men faithful to their country and the leadership and for the stability, security, economic activities, development in all fields, investment, freedom of every citizen and resident, the Kingdom has been one of the best countries in stability, security and economy not only in our region but also all over world.'

Replying to a question if there are national projects for intellectual treatment internally and externally, Prince Naif said, 'Intellectual security is not less important than public security, but it might be more important as it is the engine that moves human beings and we can not ignore latest developments in our society. The Islamic world is full of scientific capabilities and it has responsibilities in refuting ideas alien to Islam which has only two references, the Holy Quran and Prophet's Sunnah.

In response to a question on his opinions about Saudi media in support of Ministry of Interior in combating terrorism, Prince Naif said, 'Media are effective in the society. We should deal with the situation with knowledge. Our Saudi media should move ahead stronger and larger to face this situation, but with commitment and responsibility, and in a way that raises the situation of the homeland. It is not in the interest of our religion and daily lives to depend on faults without verification.'

Prince Naif welcomed objective and constructive criticism which relies on facts, calling on media personnel to assume their responsibilities, saying, 'We should work so that media will meet our expectations to be one of the best nations in the present or in the future. We should reflect on the past of our nation and its large-scale sincere actions and make it a model for us along with the use of all means of modern technology.

In his speech, the Kingdom's Mufti-General and Chairman of Senior Scholars Council and Scholarly Research and Ifta Department Sheikh Abdulaziz bin Abdullah Al Al-Sheikh said that the nation of Prophet Mohammed (Peace be upon him) is the nation of moderation and justice, noting that religious teachings are based on moderation and being far away from extremism.

He said that the Kingdom, which has suffered from terrorism, has exerted great efforts in combating terrorism including the holding of this conference under the auspices of Prince Naif bin Abdulaziz.

On her part, Princess Adelah bint Abdullah bin Abdulaziz noted the role of families in bringing up the youth according to the culture of dialogue and tolerance.

The princess praised women for their roles in planting the values of tolerance and the acceptance of the other.
