Saudi Arabia receives first two out of 72 Typhoon aircraft

Kingdom donates $5 million to UNHCR for Iraqi refugees in Syria, Jordan

Prince Khalid bin Sultan bin Abdulaziz, the Assistant Minister of Defense and aviation and Inspector General for Military Affairs, on behalf of Crown Prince Sultan bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, Deputy Premier, Minister of Defense and Aviation and Inspector General and the chairman of the board of directors of the General Organization for Military Industries, presided at his office in al-Muathar over the 26th meeting of the Organization.

The meeting was attended by the board members – Minister of Trade & Industry Abdullah Zainal, Dr. Mohammed al-Suwail, the President of the King Abdulaziz City for Science & Technology, Lt. General Hussein al-Qabeel, the deputy chief of staff, Maj. General Eng. Abdulaziz al-Hadithi, the Organization director general.

Meanwhile, Prince Khalid received in Riyadh William Patey, the United Kingdom's Ambassador to Saudi Arabia. During the meeting, they discussed a number of issues of mutual interest.

Prince Khalid also patronized in Taif a graduation ceremony of the 6th batch of cadets from King Abdullah Air Defense College.

Upon arrival at the venue, he was received by a number of commanders and senior officers.

The ceremony was attended by a number of officials.

In a press statement following the ceremony, Prince Khalid stressed that Crown Prince Sultan is in a good health, and he is enjoying a period of recuperation.

He noted that the Crown Prince will return to the homeland within the next few weeks to be in support of the King and in the service of the people.

Prince Khalid bin Sultan bin Abdulaziz pointed out that the arrival of typhoon aircraft in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia will be completed within the next five years, indicating that the Kingdom is not the first country in the Middle East to get these aircraft only, but also the first one after their manufacturing country.

On the other hand, two Typhoon aircraft belonging to the Saudi Royal Air Forces arrived in the kingdom marking the beginning of the delivery of the 72 Typhoon aircraft as part of the Salam Project and according to the understanding document signed between the governments of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the United Kingdom.

Prince General Abdurrahman bin Fahd Alfaisal, the commander of the air forces, patronized a reception ceremony held on this occasion at King Fahd Airbase in the Western Sector in Taif.

In a press statement, the commander hailed the planes and said the aircraft are prepared to defend all parts of the homeland and are moved according to the needs of operational requirements.

The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia has donated $5 million to United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) to support the Iraqi refugees in Jordan and Syria.

The donation was announced during an official ceremony held by the UNHCR office in Amman and patronized by Saudi Ambassador to Jordan Fahd bin Abdulmohsen Al-Zaid.

The Minister Plenipotentiary at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Dr. Zuhair bin Mohammed Al-Idrissi delivered a speech in which he thanked the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, the Crown Prince and the Second Deputy Premier for the Kingdom's donation that will contribute to alleviating the suffering of Iraqi refugees in Jordan.
