The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia is one of the first and leading nations in the fighting terrorism at local, regional and international levels.

The Kingdom has confirmed this trend in all occasions by its severe refusing and condemnation of terrorism in all its forms, manifestations and acts of evil, which are incompatible with the principles and provisions of the Islamic religion, which prohibit the killing of innocent people and renounce all forms of violence and terrorism and call for the protection of human rights.

Thus, under the leadership of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Abdullah Abdulaziz Al Saud; Crown Prince Sultan bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, Deputy Premier, Minister of Defense and Aviation and Inspector General, and Prince Naif bin Abdulaziz, the Second Deputy Premier and Minister of Interior, the Kingdom is driving a strong campaign to fight terrorism through the promotion and development of systems and regulations related to combating terrorism and terrorist crimes, updating and development of security and all other relevant organs to intensify fight against terrorism and rehabilitation programs and training for security officers and police.

The Kingdom also announced its full readiness to support the international efforts to combat terrorism and to contribute effectively to the framework of a collective international effort under the umbrella of the United Nations.

In a report, the Saudi Press Agency reviews the most important efforts made by Saudi Arabia to combat terrorism and acts of violence carried out by a group strayed from the righteous teachings of Islam.

The international conference to combat terrorism called for by Saudi Arabia and held in Riyadh early of February 2005 was highlighted as one of the untiring efforts being exerted by the Kingdom in the fight against this global scourge.

In this context, the Kingdom submitted a draft resolution to the General Assembly of the United Nations calling for the formation of a working group to study the recommendations of 2005 Riyadh conference, including the establishment of an international counter-terrorism center announced by the Crown Prince in his speech before the General Assembly of the United Nations on Sept 16, 2005 in which he emphasized that the threat of terrorism threatens the entire world, which requires concerted efforts to combat it and that Islam is innocent of terrorism.

Moreover, Saudi Arabia signed several agreements on combating terrorism and has ratified a number of relevant international agreements.

At the local level, the Kingdom fought its battle against terrorism through two parallel lines; the security treatment and preventive one.

At the level of security treatment, the security men confronted violence and terrorism and they succeeded with courage and mastery in winning the security confrontations with the strayed and misguided group.

Also, the security men recorded unprecedented achievements represented in the pre-emptive strikes and the failure of more than 95 percent of terrorist operations thanks to the security strategy developed by security leaders and won the admiration of the world as a whole.

And thus, the experience of Saudi Arabia in combating terrorism and detecting terrorist plots before they are implemented became an unprecedented superior recorded by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to precede several developed countries that have suffered from terrorism for decades.

In this context, the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques stressed in an interview with the Kuwaiti "Al-Seyassah" newspaper published on August 16, 2004 that "Security in Saudi Arabia is fine...It is a rock upon which all these attacks were broken".

At the humanitarian level and in appreciating of their sacrifices, the Kingdom accorded its great care to the courageous security men who are battling against the terrorism.

Thus, these men won the trust of the Saudi leadership, when the King confirmed his standing confidence in the security men and armed forces, highlighting through a Cabinet meeting the vigilance of the security forces in serving their religion, country and people in beating the terrorism and terrorists.

At level of the preventive treatment, the Ministry of Education has exerted efforts to educate and aware male and female students of the seriousness of terrorist acts and the sanctity of them in Islam.

Moreover, the Kingdom issued a series of regulations, directives and laws for the use of the Internet to meet the electronic attacks and cyber terrorism.

And through its official agencies, the state has worked on draining of terrorism sources and rooting it out through the reorganization of collecting funds for charitable causes that could be used for non-legitimate acts.

Needless to say, that the Ministry of Interior under the leadership of Prince Naif bin Abdulaziz, the Second Deputy Premier and Minister of Interior has taken full responsibility in the fight against terrorism and thwarting terrorist plots before they occur.

So, Prince Naif bin Abdulaziz Chair for Intellectual Security Studies at King Saud University came to strengthen the efforts being exerted by various relevant agencies and to integrate them in the intellectual and preventive treatment of the fabricated ideas alien to our religion and society and which promoted by those of the misguided thought.

Prince Naif Chair for Intellectual Security Studies has crowned its accomplishments during the current year 2009 by holding the First National Conference on Intellectual Security titled "Concepts and Challenges", and also by setting the preparations for the national strategy for the intellectual security among other relevant activities in this regard.
