During the meeting, Prince Naif bin Abdulaziz conveyed to President Mubarak the greetings of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz and the Crown Prince . In his turn, President Mubarak sent his greetings to the King and the Crown Prince.
Also, they discussed a number of issues pertaining to strengthening bilateral relations between the two countries, in addition to a number of regional and international topics of common concern.
The meeting was attended by Prince Fahd bin Naif bin Abdulaziz; State Minister and Cabinet's Member Dr. Musaed bin Mohammed Al-Eiban; Minister of Commerce and Industry Abdullah Ahmed Zainal, and Saudi Ambassador to Egypt Hisham Mohieddin Nazer.
On the Egyptian side, it was attended by Minister of Interior Habib Al-Adli; Minister of Trade and Industry Rashid Mohammed Rashid, and Presidential Spokesman Ambassador Suleiman Awad.
Then, a bilateral meeting was held.
In a statement to the Saudi Press Agency (SPA) shortly after the meeting, Prince Naif described the meeting as successful and productive adding that "we felt as talking to a dear brother for the great appreciation and respect the President has for Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz Al Saud and Crown Prince Sultan bin Abdulaziz and the People of the Kingdom".
He added, "I can confirm that our meeting was successful and I conveyed the greetings of the King to the president and all that concerns the bilateral relations between the two countries".
Regarding the pending singing of a number of agreements, Prince Naif said, "There are two agreements on the exchange of prisoners and drug trafficking". Prince Naif stressed that such agreements will reflect well on the peoples of both countries.
Prince Naif also held talks with Egyptian Intelligence Chief Omar Suleiman.
The talks dealt with issues of common interest.
The meeting was attended by Prince Fahd bin Naif bin Abdulaziz.
Egyptian Prime Minister Dr. Ahmed Nazif held talks with Prince Naif.
During the meeting, they reviewed the developments at regional and international arenas.
Following the meeting, Prince Naif and Dr. Nazif attended a signing ceremony of a number of Memoranda of Understanding (MoU) between the two countries.
A MoU on scientific cooperation and research as well as a MoU on using biotechnology to extract medical drugs were signed between King Saud University (KSU) and Mubarak City for Scientific Research and Technology Applications (MuCSAT).
The two MoU were signed by KSU Director Dr. Abdullah bin Abdurrahman Al-Othman and MuCSAT President Dr. Mohamed Al-Saadani.
A MoU on scientific cooperation and research as well as a MoU in the field of chemistry and biotechnology were signed between KSU and the University of Alexandria. The two MoU were signed by KSU Director Dr. Abdullah bin Abdulrahman Al-Othman and President of the University of Alexandria Dr. Hind Mamdouh Hanafy.
Also, a MoU on scientific cooperation and research as well as a MoU in the field of preparing polymer and it applications were signed between KSU and Cairo University. The two MoU were signed by KSU Director Dr. Abdullah bin Abdulrahman Al-Othman and Cairo University Director Dr. Hossam Kamel.
A MoU on scientific cooperation and research as well as a MoU in the field of chemistry were signed between KSU and the Egyptian National Research Center. The two MoU were signed by KSU Director Dr. Abdullah bin Abdulrahman Al-Othman and the President of the Egyptian National Research Center Dr. Hani Al-Nazer.
A cooperation program in the field of industrial cooperation was signed between the Ministry of Commerce and Industry of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the Ministry of Foreign Trade and Industry of Egypt. The program was signed by Saudi Minister of Commerce and Industry Dr. Abdullah bin Ahmed Zainal and Egyptian Minister of Foreign Trade and Industry Rasheed Mohamed Rasheed.
The meeting was attended by a number of senior officials.
Secretary General of the Arab League Amr Moussa described his meeting with Prince Naif as good and that it dealt with the agenda of the Arab Interior Ministers Council and coordination within the Arab League.
In a statement to the press following the meeting, Moussa said he also discussed with Prince Naif bin Abdulaziz the situation in the Arab world.
Moussa also hailed the role played by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, led by the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, in healing the injuries of the Arab nation. Current problems are not only between Arab countries but also among Arab societies who are far derailing, he added.
He described King Abdullah’s recent visit to Syria as important and a continuation of the initiative of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz Al Saud he launched in Kuwait Arab summit last January for Arab reconciliation.
He described this approach as the most correct and positive that narrows the gaps and ends disputes.
In response to a question, he said a meeting for Iraq's neighboring countries scheduled for Sharm el-Sheikh, Egypt, on Wednesday is designed to coordinate among security bodies in the Arab countries.
Prince Naif arrived in Sharm el-Sheikh to lead his country's delegation to the 6th meeting of the interior ministers of Iraq's neighboring countries.
At Sharm A l-Sheikh Airport, Prince Naif was received by the Egyptian Minister of Interior Major General Habib Al-Adli.
In an arrival statement to the media, Prince Naif thanked his Egyptian counterpart for inviting him to this city, hoping that the meeting would come out with what benefits the Iraqi security.
Prince Naif was accompanied by Prince Fahd bin Naif bin Abdulaziz; Saudi Ambassador to Egypt Hisham bin Mohieddin Nazer; and a number of officials.
Earlier in the day, Prince Naif left Cairo for Sharm Al-Sheikh.
At Cairo International Airport, he was seen off by the Egyptian Minister of Petroleum Sameh Fahmi; Saudi Minister of State and Member of the Cabinet Dr. Musaed bin Mohammed Al-Aiban; Saudi Minister of Commerce and Industry Abdullah bin Ahmed Zainal; and a number of Saudi and Egyptian officials.
Prince Naif also received Bahrain's Interior Minister Sheikh Lieutenant General Rashid bin Abdullah Al Khalifa, and his accompanying delegation.
During the meeting, they discussed topics of mutual concern and bilateral relations between the two countries.
The meeting was attended by Prince Fahd bin Naif bin Abdulaziz; Dr. Ahmed bin Mohammed Al-Salem, the Undersecretary of Ministry of Interior and Major General Saud bin Saleh Al-Dawood, the Director of Office of Minister of interior for Studies and Researches.
Egyptian newspapers of Tuesday hailed the current visit of Prince Naif to Egypt, his first to a foreign country after being appointed second deputy premier.
The papers highlighted his meeting with President Mohammed Hosni Mubarak, noting that the talks focused on a number of regional and international issues of mutual concern and ways of enhancing the bilateral relations between the two countries.
The Egyptian dailies also praised the talks between Prince Naif and Egypt's Prime Minister Ahmed Nazif.
Saudi Ambassador to Egypt Hisham bin Mohieddin Nazer has stressed that the visit of Prince Naif bin Abdulaziz, the Second Deputy Premier and Minister of Interior to Egypt comes within the framework of Saudi-Egyptian distinguished relations which embody full understanding and harmony between the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz Al Saud and Egypt's President Mohammed Hosni Mubarak.
The Ambassador has praised historical relations between the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and Egypt, stressing that fraternal ties between the King and the Egyptian President have had the greatest impact on strengthening bilateral relations in addition to their keenness on promoting firm friendship and relations between the peoples and leaderships of the two countries.
Ambassador Nazer noted that the visit comes at the invitation of Egyptian Prime Minister Dr. Ahmed Nazif, indicating that the visit aims to promote bilateral relations between the two countries in commercial, economic, cultural, and scientific fields as well as bolstering ties between universities and research centers in the two countries.
