Nigerien president lauds Saudi Arabia’s assistance to his country

Crown Prince, Deputy Premier, Minister of Defense and Aviation and Inspector General, Prince Sultan bin Abdulaziz Al Saud who is also the President of the Board of Directors of Saudi Arabian General Authority of Civil Aviation (GACA), has signed a SR 222 million worth a contract for civil navigational radar system with the U.S. international company of Raytheon.
The contract, an important step to develop the air navigation system in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, will enter into force during a period of 36 months from the date of signature.
It also includes the manufacturing, installation and checking of (21) modern system of navigation" surveillance keeping pace with latest developments in modern technologies in this field and aims at providing radar coverage for all parts of Saudi airspace to service and control air traffic routes at altitudes of (15) thousand feet and above.
Meanwhile, Tandja Mamadou, President of Niger, lauded Saturday Saudi Arabia’s assistance for his country and highlighted the leading role of the Custodian of the Holy Mosques, King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz in the service of Islam and Muslims in various parts of the world.
In a statement to The Saudi Press Agency, he said the King pays great concern to Muslims and Islamic causes in Niger as he cares for all Muslims in the rest of the world.
"King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz, is a pioneer and a leader for all Muslims around the world. He is always interested in any issue concerning Niger, especially if Niger suffers from human or social calamities. He also cares for pilgrims from Niger when they visit the Kingdom to perform Hajj and offer them good and generous treatment," he added.
"We greatly appreciate the assistance provided by the Kingdom to Niger in social, health or humanitarian spheres.
Moreover, Saudi Arabia provides great and important support to Niger, and in turn the Nigerien Government is highly appreciative of what Saudi Arabia provides to it," he said.
As regards the Saudi-Nigerien relations, President Tandja Mamadou described the relations between the Republic of Niger and Saudi Arabia as "solid, strong, deep-rooted and historic".
In the sphere of investment, President Mamadou Tandja stressed the importance of investing in his country, especially by businessmen in reclaiming agricultural lands for various agricultural crops as sign of Saudi support for the people of Niger.
In this context, he mentioned a draft project, which was prepared and presented by the Saudi Fund for Development SFD. On its implementation, the project will strategically help Niger to overcome food deficit situation it faces nowadays.
He also pointed out that Saudi Arabia’s contribution for financing a number of landmarks projects including Kandadji dam.
In the cultural sphere, the President said that King Faisal Islamic Center as well as Prince Sultan Cultural Center are very significant Islamic landmarks in Niger and play effective roles for the benefit of Nigerien people.
