Media is sill lagging behind as to serve Arab security

Prince Naif has affirmed that media is still short of serving the cause of Arab security, despite the fact that the Arab Ministers of Interior and Information had agreed to coordinate and cooperate for confronting the negative phenomena.
Addressing a press conference after patronizing a graduation ceremony at Naif Arab University for Security Sciences, he said.
The duty of the media is to present and disclose facts, adding that it is hoped that the media men will work to reach and present facts to the public opinion.
On the role of the Saudi media as regards tackling the terror problems, he said "What I have said in general about the media is applicable for the Saudi media too.
Whenever an event takes place, even if it is a small one like a collision, it is widely covered and it may be published on the front page, but when there is a positive act it is published in the internal pages and might appear only without a comment."
Prince Naif said the Interior Ministry has appointed Spokesmen at all security organs and one spokesman for the interior ministry and security. "As such, the media should report events as these take place and do not give undue importance to events which do not deserve coverage."
He urged the media men to authenticate the media works because they should respect their readers and viewers. On the trial of persons involved in terror acts, he said "God willing, the trial will start soon as we have been informed by the Justice Ministry."
On coordination with the Yemeni authorities through exchange of information, he said "We always cooperate on how to present matters to the public opinion," adding that it is impossible to gain the confidence of the public opinion without presenting facts.
On the arrest in the Kingdom of some Bahrainis, Prince Naif denied exaggerations of some news agencies and the internet in this context.
He hailed the existing cooperation between Saud Arabia and Bahrain and said "We shouldn't rule out the possibility of stopping a Saudi in Bahrain and the vice-versa, but we work as a one organ. Matters are still in the stage of accusation and investigation, and the reality will appear but without exaggerations."
Prince Naif rejected the reports which said the Saudi security organs have eliminated Al-Qaeda organization in the Kingdom and said "There is something remaining and the matters may be renewed with different forms, but, thanks Allah Almighty, we have achieved a lot in this respect and we were able to abort so many plots'.
Prince Naif said terror acts still exist, adding that as long as there are sources for terrorism, terrorism will continue. "However, there is no joint works at Arab and international levels for drying up sources of terrorism."
He noted that the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz was bestowed with a doctorate degree by Naif Arab University for security sciences.

He hoped that the university would be respected by the scientific authorities.
