Prince Naif graces Arab Prosecutors General Conference
Interior minister says trying terrorists to start soon in Kingdom
Prince Naif emphasizes importance of Arab cooperation in combating organized, trans-border crimes
Prince Abdulrahman says Kingdom proud its citizens voluntarily enroll in thousands in armed forces
Prince Naif bin Abdulaziz, the Interior Minister, patronized the inaugural ceremony of the second Arab conference for the heads of Administrations of prosecutions general as well as heads of Commissions of investigation and prosecution.
Speaking on the occasion, the Head of the Investigation and Prosecution Commission Sheikh Mohammed Al-Abdullah said various crimes being witnessed by the contemporary world under the phenomenon of globalization and information revolution make it necessary to exchange expertise and develop a well-defined cooperation mechanism.
He noted that the 3-day conference will discuss means of exchanging expertise among the organs of investigation and prosecution in the Arab countries as well as ways of forging cooperation for confronting organized crime.
On his part, Prince Naif bin Abdulaziz welcomed the participants of the conference and said the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia is delighted to host this conference.
He noted that the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz and Crown Prince Sultan bin Abdulaziz are keen on enhancing the march of the joint Arab work which paves the way for enhancing the security and stability in the Arab countries as well as the rest of all countries in the world.
"We hope that this meeting will positively contribute to activating the mechanism of joint cooperation among the organs of investigation and prosecution in the Arab countries and facilitate exchange of available expertise under the current changes and challenges as well as continuing terrorism like violence, extremism and organized crime in addition to usage of technology in carrying out these crimes, " he said.
He called for enabling the organs of investigation and prosecution in the Arab countries to confront and contain crimes and bring the culprits to justice through fair procedures that leads to fair trial and contributes to the preservation of the rights of the nations and the individuals in line with the teachings of the Islamic Sharia.
Prince Naif noted that the agenda of the meeting contains important topics which should be carefully studied.
He underlined the importance of activating mechanism of joint works to ensure continuous development of skills of the officials of investigation and prosecution general administrations and enabling them performs their mission efficiently.
"We hope that the meeting will yield positive results and lead to enhancing cooperation among various organs, making them capable of dealing with the criminal developments and uncovering their causes, motivations and trends in a manner that meets the aspirations of our leaders and nations," he added.
Prince Naif, then, honored four of the former officials of the investigation and prosecution commissions and prosecutions general, namely: former president of the investigation and prosecution general Sheikh Mohammed bin Suleiman al-Muhawas; former Lebanese prosecutor general Muneef Ibrahim Oweidat; former prosecutor general in Egypt Mohammed Abdulaziz al-Jundi, and former representative of King of Morocco at the appeal court Abdullah al-Alawi al-Suleimani.
Prince Naif received a memorial gift from the president of the investigation and prosecution commission.
The function was attended by a number of princes, the Kingdom's General Mufti, senior Ulema and officials.
Prince Naif bin Abdulaziz, the Minister of Interior emphasized that the Kingdom's hosting of the works of 2nd Arab Conference for Prosecutors General and heads of commissions of investigation and public prosecution reflects the concern of the Government of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz Al Saud for strengthening the cooperation among member countries of the Arab League and for activating their efforts in the areas of investigation and prosecution bodies and the General Public Prosecutions in addition to the development of their capabilities to meet the challenges of the era.
On the occasion of the conference, Prince Naif said, "The cultural, social and economic changes of this era and what generate the negative effects and security problems necessitate the search for better ways of coordination and cooperation among the investigation and prosecution bodies and the General Public Prosecutions as well as creating and supporting the developed mechanisms to deal with these changes.
The Minister of Interior emphasized the importance of Arab cooperation in the areas of combating organized crime, trans-border crimes and activation of the agreements and international treaties for the extradition of criminals and outlaws of religion, law and order, pointing to the need to benefit from the technologies of this era to achieve cherished communication and coordination among all Arab bodies and authorities on this subject.
Prince Naif expressed his confidence in the ability of the Prosecutors General and heads of commissions of investigation and public prosecution participating in the conference to reach active outcomes which serve Arab interests, and to develop appropriate mechanisms to implement these outcomes, emphasizing the support of the Government of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz Al Saud for joint Arab efforts and its support for the decisions and outcomes that meet the aspirations of the leaders and peoples of Arab countries.
Dr. Saed Al-Orabi Al-Harthi, Advisor to the Minister of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and Chairman of the Saudi popular campaign for the relief of the Lebanese people, arrived in Beirut.
In an arrival statement, he said he is conveying the greetings of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, Crown Prince Sultan bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, Deputy Premier, Minister of Defense and Aviation and Inspector General, Prince Naif bin Abdulaziz, the Minister of Interior who is also the General Supervisor for the campaign, and those of the Saudi people to the Lebanese leadership and people as well.
He cast light on the efforts exerted by the campaign to alleviate the sufferings of all Lebanese in all parts of Lebanon affected by the Israeli aggression.
On the purpose of his visit, he said he would open a number of projects constructed by the campaign, noting that the campaign has surpassed the first stage of forging emergency relief projects to phase II of establishing constant educational, medical and recruitment projects.
For his part, the Chairman of the Lebanese Relief Committee Major General Yahya Raad lauded the generous support by the Kingdom, led by the king and crown prince.
He also thanked Prince Naif for his interest in assisting the Lebanese people, giving an account on the Saudi relief since the spark of the crisis to date and thanked Al-Harthi for his efforts to assist the Israeli-aggression-stricken people in Lebanon.
Meanwhile, Lebanese Premier Fouad Alsanyoorah received Advisor to the Saudi Interior Minister and Head of the Saudi Popular Campaign for Relief of the Lebanese People Dr. Saed Al-Orabi Al-Harthi. The meeting was attended by Saudi Ambassador to Lebanon Dr. Abdulaziz Khojah.
During the meeting, the premier received from Dr. Al-Harthi a report documenting the campaign's works in Lebanon.
In a press statement following the meeting, Dr. Al-Harthi said the premier thanked Saudi Arabia for its support for Lebanon.
Prince Abdulrahman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, Deputy Minister of Defense and Aviation and Inspector General, conveyed the greetings and congratulations of Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, the Supreme Commander of all armed forces, and Crown Prince Sultan bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, Deputy Premier, Minister of Defense and Aviation and Inspector General, to the personnel of the armed forces in the northern region on the occasion of Eid Al-Fitr.
A speech ceremony was held to mark the occasion.
Addressing the audience, Prince Abdulrahman hailed the efforts exerted by the personnel and said that the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia is proud that its citizens enroll in thousands in the armed forces without being forced and without a government order because they want to join these forces.
The party was attended by Prince Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Abdulaziz, Prince Faisal bin Abdulrahman bin Abdulaziz and Prince Saud bin Abdulrahman bin Abdulaziz, other princes and senior army officers.
Prince Abdulrahman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, Deputy Minister of Defense and Aviation and Inspector General, opened the SR10 million vehicle driving training center in the northern region.
Prince Abdulrahman toured the installations of the center which included the housing of the personnel, the installations of training, general services installations, heavy vehicle training field and light vehicle field.
He also graced the luncheon held by the command of the northern region in his honor.
The luncheon was attended by a number of princes and officials.
Prince Abdulrahman left Hafrul-Baten after having conveyed the greetings and congratulations of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, the Supreme Commander of All the Armed Forces and Crown Prince Sultan bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, Deputy Premier, Minister of Defense and Aviation and Inspector General, to the personnel of the armed forces in the Northern Region on the occasion of Eid Al-Fitr.
At King Khalid Militry City Airport, Prince Abdulrahman was seen off by a number of princes, senior army officers and civil and military officials.
He was accompanied by Prince Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Abdulaziz.
Prince Abdulrahman bin Abdulaziz, Deputy Minister of Defense and Aviation and Inspector General, returned to Jeddah after having conveyed the greetings and congratulations of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, the Supreme Commander of All the Armed Forces, and Crown Prince Sultan bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, Deputy Premier, Minister of Defense and Aviation and Inspector General, to the personnel of the armed forces in the southern and northern regions on the occasion of Eid Al-Fitr.
At King Abdulaziz International Airport, Prince Abdulrahman was received by Major General Zaal bin Sulaiman Al-Balawi and a number of army officers and civil and military officials.
He was accompanied by Prince Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Abdulaziz.
The Saudi and Yemeni sides held a meeting in Sanaa under the co-chairmanship of Abdullah Al-Shater, Yemen's Undersecretary of the Ministry of Planning and International Cooperation or Projects Programming Sector, and Mansour Al-Zughaibi, leader of the Saudi Development Fund's delegation to the meeting.
A draft agreement to finance Omran-Aden two-way road project was discussed at the meeting in addition to the special Saudi grant for the fifth energy project at a cost of $50 million.
The finance of the two projects come within Saudi Arabia's financial pledge announced at the donors' conference in London late 2006.
