Crown Prince Sultan bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, Deputy Premier, Minister of Defense and Aviation and Inspector General, received a message from Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi, the Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces.
The message was delivered to Crown Prince Sultan by United Arab Emirates Ambassador to the Kingdom Saed Al-Dhaheri during an audience held at the Royal Court at Al-Yamamah Palace.
The Ambassador conveyed the greetings of President Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan of the United Arab Emirates to Crown Prince Sultan. In turn, Crown Prince Sultan sent his greetings to the President.
The audience was attended by Prince Dr. Mishaal bin Abdullah bin Musaed, Adviser to the Crown Prince; Dr. Musaed bin Mohammed Al-Aiban, Minister of State, Member of the Cabinet; Ali bin Ibrahim Al-Hudaithi, Chief of the Court of Crown Prince; and Mohammed bin Salim Al-Marri, Special Advisor to the Crown Prince.
Crown Prince Sultan bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, Deputy Premier, Minister of Defense and Aviation and Inspector General, received at the Royal Court at Al-Yamamah Palace here today a number of princes and senior officials and a group of citizens who came to greet him.
The audience was attended by Prince Dr. Mishaal bin Abdullah bin Musaed, Adviser to the Crown Prince; Prince Faisal bin Khalid bin Sultan bin Abdulaziz, Advisor at the Court of Crown Prince; Ali bin Ibrahim Al-Hudaithi, Chief of the Court of Crown Prince; and Mohammed bin Salim Al-Marri, Special Advisor to the Crown Prince.
On behalf of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, Crown Prince Sultan bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, Deputy Premier, Minister of Defense and Aviation and Inspector General, tonight graced the annual grand horse race on the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques cups for the domestic and imported horses.
At King Abdulaziz Equestrian race in Al-Janadriya, Crown Prince Sultan was received by Prince Sultan bin Mohammed bin Saud Al-Kabeer; Prince General Mit'eb bin Abdullah bin Abdulaziz, Assistant Commander of the National Guard for Military Affairs; and Prince Saifuddin bin Saud bin Abdulaziz, other princes, ministers and Rashid Al-Zinaidi, Director General for the Equestrian Club.
Following the eight-set race, Crown Prince Sultan gave away the cups and gifts of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques to winners.
Prince Khalid al-Faisal, the Governor of Makkah region, inaugurated here yesterday tourism and Gulf investment forum.
Speaking on the occasion, Saeed Assiri, the head of the forum's organizing committee, said the experience of tourism development in Assir region is considered as one of the successful experiences.
He noted that Prince Khalid al-Faisal was the first official who established an administration concerned with tourism at the Gulf level more than three decades ago.
On his part, Abdullah al-Johani, the deputy secretary general of the marketing and information sector at the higher tourism commission, highlighted the big strides made by the tourism sector in the Gulf region, and said it has been positively contributing to the diversification of the sources of the national income.
Al-Johani noted that the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, the cradle of Islam, is keen on realizing a sustainable tourism which takes into account the deep-rooted Islamic values.
He noted that the general strategic for national tourism development, earlier approved by the government, aims at broadening the contribution of the tourism sector to the gross national product (GNP) and increasing it to 18 percent of the GNP by 1440.
Al-Johani pointed out that the volume of tourism industry in the Kingdom has amounted to more than SR 61 billion. He said the higher tourism commission is keen on attracting investors to invest their capitals in the field of tourism.
Meanwhile, Dr. Essam Fakhro, the chairman of the Federation of the GCC chambers of commerce and industry, said tourism contributes with about 30 percent of the total revenues of the services sector at the world level.
On his part, Prince Khalid al-Faisal said the industrial and technological revolution at the world level will positively contribute to the development of tourism.
He pointed out that the GCC member states are capable of developing their tourism potentialities.
Prince Khalid attributed the development of tourism sector in Assir region to the governmental support as well as to the efforts exerted by the governmental and non-governmental sectors.
Prince Khalid pointed out that tourism is no longer confined to recreation and marketing, but it has so many purposes pertaining to science, medical treatment, economy and conferences and other related purposes.
Prince Saud bin Abdulmohsen bin Abdulaziz, Governor of Hail and Chairman of the Supreme Organizing Committee of Hail International Rally, patronized the kick off ceremony of the first stage of the five-set Hail Rally 2008.
The event was also attended by Prince Sultan bin Salman bin Abdulaziz, Secretary General of the Higher Commission for Tourism; Prince Abdulaziz bin Saad bin Abdulaziz, Deputy Governor of Hail Region and Prince Faisal bin Saud bin Abdulmohsen bin Abdulaziz.
Addressing the gathering, Prince Abdullah bin Khalid bin Abdullah Al Saud, Assistant Hail Region Development Authority and Chairman of the Executive Committee of the vehicles race, said this event is yet another evidence of the unlimited care and interest extended to the Saudi sports and youth by the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, Crown Prince Sultan bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, Deputy Premier, Minister of Defense and Aviation and Inspector General, Prince Sultan bin Fahd bin Abdulaziz, President of Youth Welfare and his deputy Prince Nawaf bin Faisal bin Fahd bin Abdulaziz.
President George W. Bush met with Saudi Foreign Minister Prince Saud Al-Faisal at the White House.
According to White House press secretary Scott Stanzel, Bush was set to discuss with Minister Al-Faisal “a wide range of regional issues including the president’s recent trip to the Middle East, the Israeli-Palestinian peace process and the situation in Lebanon.”
The meeting between the two leaders came one month after Bush’s trip to the Middle East, including Saudi Arabia, which centered on advancing peace in the region.
Present at the meeting from the American side were Vice President Dick Cheney, Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice, Assistant to the President for National Security Affairs Stephen Hadley, Deputy Assistant to the President and Deputy National Security Advisor for Global Democracy Strategy Elliot Abrams. From the Saudi side Saudi Ambassador Adel Al-Jubeir, and Director of Western Hemisphere Affairs at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Ambassador Dr. Khalid Al-Jindan, attended the meeting.
